It's You again God,

Listening to the weekday sounds at around 7am is a bit frustrating for me! I'm usually awake earlier but at this time, the traffic volume on the nearby highway emits a constant, dull drone accentuated by the occasional noisy motorbike or large truck. There are birds still singing as they go about their business on this new morning. I long to just hear their voices but they seem to be drowned out with the distant commuter sounds!

Lord I want to hear Your voice clearly and yet so many things can be competing for my attention! I am easily distracted throughout the day so that is why I know that I need to just stop before the day begins and have this 'Quiet Time'.

"Proclaim his majesty, all you mighty champions, you sons of Almighty God, giving all the glory and strength back to him! Be in awe before his majesty. Be in awe before such power and might! Come worship wonderful Yahweh, arrayed in all his splendor, bowing in worship as he appears in the beauty of holiness. Give him the honor due his name. Worship him wearing the glory-garments of your holy, priestly calling! The voice of the Lord echoes through the skies and seas. The Glory-God reigns as he thunders in the clouds. So powerful is his voice, so brilliant and bright, how majestic as he thunders over the great waters!"
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭29:1-4‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I join with he psalmist now and praise You as I listen and wait for you to speak! ..........I am reminded of the story of young Samuel in the temple. I remember that I loved this Bible story as a child as I thought it was so cool that You would speak directly to a child! I remember lying in bed listening for Your voice calling my name!

"The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions. One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, "Here I am." And he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." But Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down." So he went and lay down. Again the Lord called, "Samuel!" And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." "My son," Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down." Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. A third time the Lord called, "Samuel!" And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening.""
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭3:1-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I am so blessed to have Your Word and this reminder to be listening for Your voice day and night and to not be surprised when You are calling me! Thank You that You have spoken to me in many ways throughout my life. Right now I say those same words to You —Speak, for Your servant is listening! The lines of communication are open all day. I am ready to give my full attention to Your voice, even amidst the distractions that the day will bring! Guide me by Your Spirit —gently lead me. Bring to my mind passages from Your Word to teach and encourage me.  Prompt me to speak Your Word to others.  Whisper through the breeze Lord. Speak as I witness the beauty of creation around me. I look forward to all that You impart to me today!

Until Jesus comes,
Amen.
