"Sir, you can't be sitting up like that right now!" The nurse scolds, swiftly taking the clipboard from his hold.
"Needs to know, a Hunter, she, needs to know!" He argues, the bandages around his side suddenly feeling like they're on fire against his skin.
"We had notice that it's over. As for your friend, I'm sorry, but it's too soon to know who survived. The vampire who brought you to us said he would tell the others where you are if that helps?" Her voice is kind, yet final and unable to focus due to the drugs in his system, Zane's head falls back into the pillow.
"Elise has to know!" He whispers in an attempt to remind himself, only he is asleep before he can even try to process the words.
