Chapter 31: Summer Year 2

Note: I would've updated Monday and Wednesday but I was playing a game I had gotten for my birthday (it was Sunday) but I will say I'm going to attempt to start updating each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this book, at least until I start adding other stories into the mix.

Mind Talking between Familiar/Bonded

Harry was excitedly packing up his trunk and felt Regina slither around on his chest impatiently as she fed off his own emotions.

"When shall we be greeting your nurturer?" asked the restive familiar.

"Soon, the train leaves in thirty. I'm just working on getting Lunar's place in the trunk set. Neptune and Uranus are already settled," Harry explained.

"I do not see why you do not bond with her like you have me," Regina commented with confusion.

Harry paused in his packing as he stared at the wall in shock. "I didn't think anyone could have more than one familiar?" he murmured confused.

Regina had slithered off his forearm slightly until her head and upper body was just looking at him. Her head tilted slightly. "She was suppose to have been your first bonded. However, due to her young age, she did not know how to extend her magic to accept yours which has been asking her since she was born. It was why she did not wish for you to leave. Have you not noticed?" Regina asked with a slight scold.

"I just thought I imprinted on her. I had no idea she was also a familiar. Will she accept the bond?" Harry asked curiously as he motioned for Lunar to come closer to him.

Lunar had instantly done asked and was chirping curiously at him. Harry was scratching under her chin as he listened to Regina's answer, "I have shown her how to accept the bond. Should the wish occur and you both agree, I have no doubt that the familiar bond will be accepted, Hatchling. It would make it easier for the two of you to travel as she would take up another tattoo space. It is also why she is able to control her size as well, it would not bode well for a fully grown dragon and Basilisk tattoo to take your skin. It would hardly be discreet. So even without the bond having fully formed, magic made it so we could adjust our size as needed to protect you," Regina said as she nuzzled his other hand that wasn't scratching Lunar.

Harry nodded in understanding and cautiously sat on the bed and faced Lunar, making sure to stop scratching so she would take what he was saying seriously. "Lunar, love, would you like to be my familiar? Regina tells me she taught you how to bond?" Harry asked softly and let his hand hover over Lunar's head and have magic bleed.

Instantly, Lunar was chirping in excitement as she nuzzled the hand above her. For the first time, he actually felt her own magic against his and felt safe, love, happiness flow from her into him.

Without the distraction that Riddle Ghost had provided, Harry was able to fully take in the bond that was forming. His magic was settling far more than before he had his two familiars. Feelings entered through him and it felt as if part of him that he hadn't known was missing was filled.

He was happy that his Occlumency was so well as he had to actually filter his thoughts and feelings into separate areas. He had to design an area for Regina, Lunar, and then himself so he wouldn't accidentally show the feelings his familiar's had but could still feel them and still communicate with them.

"Harry!" A childish voice said excitedly as she launched herself at Harry who quickly caught her before she could knock him over.

"Harry! Harry! Harry! Mother!" she said excitedly over and over against as she took to nuzzling Harry's cheek.
