EXTENDED SUMMARY:
Toni Morrison didn't believe in love at first sight until she saw Max Mayfield. Toni walked into that classroom almost half an hour late on that beautiful day in October nine months ago and was starstruck by the red hair and dazzling blue eyes of the new girl sitting in the seat beside her. Despite the two of them looking similar, they had opposite personalities. Toni was quiet and reserved while Max was as fiery as her hair and yet, the two became friends instantly. Toni didn't realize that by becoming friends with Max, she would be dragged into a crazy government conspiracy that actually wasn't a conspiracy at all and have to battle some creatures from another dimension but she did it. Now, nine months later, in June of 1985, Toni was still in love with Max who had a boyfriend. Lucas Sinclair was great and Toni was happy Max was with someone like Lucas but that didn't stop the jealousy from pooling in the pit of her stomach.
One thing not a lot of people knew about Toni was that she loved writing letters. Letters that she never sent but mainly just wrote to get her feelings out onto paper. One night, at about two in the morning after listening to Max drone on and on about Lucas and the stupid thing he had done, Toni spilled her feelings into an unsigned letter and stuffed it into Max's mailbox. She didn't realize by doing that, it would send Max on a mission to figure out who the Secret Admirer is.
NOTES:
— this is loosely based off the movie secret admirer from 1985 which i highly recommend watching, it's adorable
— this should have a few chapters that are before the plot of season 3 starts where max is ranting to toni about lucas & then toni writes the letter & puts it in the mailbox early in the morning
— max tells toni first about the letter & at first she thinks it's from lucas but then she's like no he would never write stuff like this bc the letter is full of really romantic stuff & all about how toni loves her but knows max won't ever feel the same way
— toni continues writing letters throughout the book & puts them in max's mailbox then max immediately comes to her & gushes about them
— this can either go into season 3 or it can be an au
— you can either decide if max figures out it's toni or if toni finally just tells her but it shouldn't be until the end of the book
— toni is a soft bby who doesn't like seeing people hurt or sad & just wants everyone to get along & be happy
— toni has a gigantic crush on max like seriously this girl is head over heels, please make that known
