EXTENDED SUMMARY.
IT'S 1994 IN NEW YORK CTY. The city's as loud as ever, and it's the same as it's always been. Only, there was one thing about it that was different, that stood out the most: El Hopper was back in their neighborhood after seven years of being away. Moving across the country to California after her dad got a huge promotion and going to college there *sure changed her life for a good amount of time. After scoring an internship with an amazing law firm, El couldn't resist the offer and took it with no regrets.
However, when she reunited with her secret ex-girlfriend, Max Mayfield, at a local bar after a long day of work, *a lot of memories from the past start to arise again, *along with feelings that really didn't go away.
NOTES.
— okay so that summary sucked so please change it. but hey i'm pretty sure this is the first elmax plot in here & i'm honored to be first to create one!
— au where el & max were 16 in 1987. max was always the rebellious spirit, and liked to live her life to the fullest whenever she could. el, however, was quiet & kind and liked living in the "perfect" world with her rich parents & caring boyfriend (who's mike).
— el really likes mike, maybe even loves him, but she isn't happy. she kinda feels forced to be with him because of what society says about rich kids, and everyone in their high school loves them together. but when she meets max, she shows her what living really feels like, ans feels alive. and the happiest she could be. even though elmax is a slowburn, they grow close really quick and eventually start to be involved romantically. it's also due to internalized homophobia and el is scared to come out/accept who she really is (max is *bisexual and you can decide what el's sexuality is!)
— based off the song call you mine by bebe rexha and the chainsmokers, but it can change if you really want it to. however, please incorporate elements from the song (ex: parts where elmax is having fun in the city should refer to "two kids with their hearts on fire") and stuff like that. listen to that if you need to. the description can change as well.
— max is working hard in grad school for psychology* and el's obviously going to law school. they meet in the bar and reminisce about the past. make sure to include flashbacks of when they were dating & teens, so you can use millie & sadie as younger el and max.
— el kisses max at the end of their conversation, since it went so well and she really does miss her. max feels the same way, and they walk out of the bar hand-in-hand. i imagine the story ending there, since it'll be long with all the flashbacks, but you're more than welcome to continue further.
— the reason why elmax is because they had a really bad fight, and then el found out she was moving to california, and long distance wasn't going to work. this can change, however. they have a nice goodbye before el has to leave, so it's a good closure for their teen romance.
