EXTENDED SUMMARY:
After Tommy Eaton's parents got a divorce, his mom was set on moving as far away from Ipswich, Oregon as possible. This resulted in her looking at houses in Hawkins, Indiana, where she found the perfect house for sale – that happened to be owned by none other than the Byers family. Tommy, who couldn't stand his father or older brother, was more than happy to get away from them. Despite leaving one of his best friends in Ipswich, Tommy was also hoping to start all over again in Hawkins after the cruel things he experienced last summer.
However, Tommy's hopes weren't seeming to come true. Because when he befriended Will Byers and his friends, things turned upside down for the summer.
