EXTENDED SUMMARY:
Finn Abel was known around Hawkins as a teenage dirtbag. He had more felonies than a usual 17-year-old had, all of them from either petty theft or something to do with drugs. Everyone expected him to end up that way. His parents both dropped out of high school after his mother got pregnant with him at fifteen. His father had been doing odd jobs around Hawkins ever since, switching between that and a jail cell every other year. The whole town knew Finn would end up just like his father and he was going down that same road, only a few miles away from his first sentence.
A month before school let out, Finn got in some deep shit. He was only inches away from being put in juvie in the next town over. He would've, too, if it weren't for Chief of Police Hopper giving him another chance. So, instead of spending his summer locked in a jail cell, Finn was spending it trapped inside an ice cream parlor inside the new mall that had just opened up for summer.
Finn assumed working in an ice cream parlor for three months was going to make this summer the most boring summer he had ever experienced. Finn quickly discovered, however, that scooping ice cream with two losers isn't so bad, especially when one of them is Steve Harrington and he is very pretty to look at. What Finn didn't expect, however, is having to decode a strange Russian message which then brought him face to face with the evil that Hawkins had been cooking up for over a year. In conclusion, Finn Abel's summer was about to be anything but boring.

— finn hates working at scoops ahoy at first. the only thing he enjoys is steve but that's really only bc he's pretty. he's kind of a dick to robin & steve at first bc he's pissed about working there
— both robin & steve don't really like finn at first bc they know his past & his dad & well they think he's a teenage dirtbag basically
— they should warm up to him as the story goes on, he starts to let go of his tough guy routine & starts being himself. he's actually very nice, funny, & smart but bc of his name, nobody ever gave him a chance to show that side so she just never used to show it
— finn should have a moment with steve where he puts down all his walls & opens up to him & explains why he is the way he is & explain how he thinks he's just destined for shit & so he totally gets why he's going to get killed by russians in an interrogation. to him, it's almost ironic that finally karma is catching up to him
— if you want, you can take this into season 4 but since idk what season 4 is going to fully entail i'm not sure how finn would fit into
