Emmett

"Emmett, you need to calm down." Carlisle spoke calmly.

I gritted my teeth and gripped the desk I was leaning on so hard that it broke.

I saw Edward and Jasper take positions on either side of me in case they needed to restrain me.

"Emmett, I know you're mad but we won't be able to do anything logical until you calm down." Carlisle continued in a soothing voice.

"Mad? I'm more than mad!" I snapped. "Carlisle, don't you get it? They have her and who knows what they have done to her. I don't care who they are. I'm going down there and I'm bringing her back, no matter what it takes."

"Emmett, the last time we had an altercation with the Volturi, we barely made it out alive." Bella pointed out.

Weren't they listening to me? Sophie was with the most dangerous group of vampires I knew, every second I was still here meant that she was that much closer to something bad happening to her. If it hadn't happened already.

No!  refused to think that way.

"I'm not asking any of you to come with me, I just want you to let me go." I spoke impatiently.

I knew that if I tried to run, I would be tackled to the ground. I shouldn't have come here. I should have gone straight to Italy and sent them a postcard or something later.

Rosalie walked towards me and placed a hand on my chest, trying to calm me down to no avail.

"Emmett, lets not do anything stupid. Sophie is dead, Alice confirmed it." She turned around to look at Alice. "Right Alice?"

Alice pursed her lips. "Well I haven't seen any visions of her since the incident."

"So that means she's dead, right?" Rosalie insisted.

Alice as quiet for a moment before talking again. "I mean, it could... I just, I'm with Emmett, it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Just to be sure."

Rosalie scowled at her before turning to face Carlisle and Esme. "Please tell me you're not on board with this too."

Carlisle looked at Esme who then spoke. "I think if Emmett wants this confirmation, we should go with him to get it."

"This is ridiculous. " Rosalie spun to look at me. "Em, my love, you can't honestly believe the Volturi has her, why would they need her anyway? Think this through. I know you think this human meant something to you but you have to get over that. We all know that she was just a temporary source of entertainment for you. Listen to me, all you'll find if you go to the Volturi and accuse them of this is disappointment and possibly death."

"Sophie, please. I... I... I love you."

"No.I know you think you do but you don't. This is just a last desperate attempt to try and make me change my mind."

"Don't say these things. I mean I get that you're upset but don't let that drive a wedge between us, what I have with you is-"

"Just a game. I'm just your entertainment until your time here eventually runs out. Then you'll leave and find something else that peeks your interest in the next town."

Those words. Hearing her say those words to me had really hurt. Especially since they were not even close to being true.

"No." I spoke up.

Rosalie rose a brow at me. I never uttered that word to her.

"Excuse me?"

"I said no, Rose." I spoke as I pushed her hand off my chest. "It wasn't just a game. It wasn't just for my entertainment. She wasn't just some human. I care about her... a lot. I care about her so much." I didn't know how to explain how I felt right now.

It felt like something just snapped in my head and what a huge mistake I had made letting her go just dawned on me.

Stupid! How could I be so stupid?

Rosalie didn't look the least bit happy.

She gave me a stern glance. "I can't believe I have to say this again but I am going to one more time. It's me or this stupid human, Emmett. If you leave, you choose her but if you get rid of these ridiculous plans, we can go back to the way we were before. Last chance, Emmett, what's it going to be?"
