No one has witnessed a long chapter in this book yet. I apologize in advance for this monstrosity you may have to read.  But it's a lot of background info so oh well

I yawned into the early morning air, stretching my arms above my head.

"Mm, I'm sleeping for another hour," I croaked.

But as my head was about to hit the pillow again, I noticed the clock on the nightstand.

"It's five in the morning?!" I exclaimed.

I jumped out of bed.

I had assumed that my claimed mother let me sleep in a guest room.

But what I was more confused about what the fact that I didn't have an awful dream like I had been having.

I had a genuine sleep for the first time in the past month.

While pondering over that thought, I showered and freshened up, changing into the set of normal clothes I had brought to the training room.

I was looking forward to getting some answers from my "mother."

I stepped out into the living room, vaguely remembering me passing out from exhaustion.

It was still dark out and the little boy wasn't up yet, however, my mother seemed to be doing mental training.

She sat with her legs folded and her eyes shut.

Not wanting to disturb her, I scavenged her kitchen for some food and coffee.

I hadn't eaten anything so I was starving.

"There's cereal in the second cabinet on the right and milk in the fridge. Coffee is already in the pot," she said, while still not focusing on me.

She slowly got up, sitting on the couch staring out distantly.

Once I had got myself some breakfast and coffee I joined her on the couch.

We sat in awkward silence, neither of us knowing what to say.

She sighed, "It's funny. The day I left, I had planned what I was going to say to you when we met again. But now, you sit in front of me, a fully fledged adult woman, and I have no clue what I want to say."

"I have a lot of questions," I said.

"I'm sure you do. But I think I have more answers than you may have questions. So I'm just going to try to explain. Try to follow along," she said.

I clenched my coffee mug a little tighter, not sure what information I was about to get.

She began, "This whole thing starts way before you. Thirty years before even I was born. Our universe is what makes up the vastness of space. But there are many galaxies in our grand universe. In a galaxy not too far from ours, there was a planet. This planet was one with bright pink skies and green fields for miles known as Koastea. The inhabitants had appearances of humans. They were a peaceful kind. Kept to themselves, content with what they had. But little did they know, a power hungry evil was lurking, ready to pounce. The inhabitants of Koastea were peaceful beings, but they were acclaimed to be the universe's greatest warrior species. And that angered a certain bad guy. Every planet he passed he destroyed. He was power hungry. And he wanted to be the best warrior in the universe. He would only have mercy on the strongest warriors of that planet, and force them to either work under his command or if they refused, destroy them like the rest of their people. So when hearing of great warriors on this planet, they set a course for it. Upon arrival they were greeted with the planet's defense. The battle between the people and the invaders lasted months, but soon enough every last being on that planet had been defeated. And the ruler of Koastea was barely hanging on by a thread. But she wouldn't give up just yet. She had made a plan. While the fighting was going on, her son and husband had hid in a place where they wouldn't be find. She told them, if it got to a point where the planet was about to be demolished, that they needed to fly away and rehabilitate somewhere far away. So why'll she was making a declaration, her husband and six-year old son fled the planet, flying as far away as the could, not bothering to look back. But back to the ruler. Her name was Zarea. In her last moments, she declared that a warrior would rise and defeat Koastea's invaders. A warrior with the purest heart. Stating that thirteen years would never be enough time for them to prepare. And with that, her and her planet were destroyed. A bluff like that was so far fetched that it was unbelievable. Everyone was destroyed, right? But our bad guys were so paranoid that they were setting a course for every planet they could to see if that warrior was there. Now back to our escapees. The little boy and his father had been wandering the universe for almost a year, trying to get as far away as they could, and that's when they stumbled upon Earth. Too exhausted to fly anywhere else, they decided to call Earth their new home, and it just so happened they landed in our lovely South Korea. They had assimilated to the culture quickly and even changed their names. They were living amongst everyone else in the Nineteen-Forties. They had found safety on Earth. That young boy was raised as an Earthling for the rest of his life, forgetting about any special fighting our powers he had. Fast forward thirty years later and he and his wife are having a child. A healthy baby girl to be specific. That baby girl was me. However, shortly after I was born my mother had passed away from an illness. From that day forward he vowed to protect his baby girl at all costs. I had a normal childhood, growing up without even knowing of the hidden power inside of me. When I turned fifteen, I started to notice it. Little sparks would randomly happen from my hands. Or sometimes I'd have a impulse to punch something. When I told my father about it he panicked. He didn't want me finding out about my power. When there was no way he could ignore it he broke and told me all the stuff I've told you up to now. He was worried because even though I was half-human, I had inherited the powers, and he was worried that I would have to fill out his mother's declaration. So of course I panicked, because I found out that I was half-alien and that I was going to have to fight. I had no proper training or experience in a fight before, so if I ever had to face a foe, I'd be done for. But I eventually learned to live with my powers, figuring out how to suppress it. When I turned eighteen I met your father. We were madly in love, and spent every minute of every day together. By then my father had passed away from an illness, so I had no family to stay with, so your father became my home. But as I aged I found it harder to keep my powers and desire to fight under control. And what didn't help was I had figured out how to sense energy and could tell that the dreaded beings were headed straight for Earth. I was so stressed and ended up blurting it all to your father. But instead of turning away, he helped me through it, trying to offer advice. He didn't mind one bit and loved me for who I was. We grew up a bit more and hit legal adulthood. And as we grew so did my powers. And I knew that the stronger it got the easier I would be able to be found. So when I turned twenty-one, a year before your father proposed to me, I decided to take a trip to Japan. I figured since Japan was home to many martial arts styles, that I'd find some way to get rid of my powers. I finally found this shaman like person. I had learned Japanese in school, so I tried my best to explain to him the whole situation, but it didn't faze him. He understood exactly what I wanted and promised to give it. He couldn't take all of my power away, but any power related to fighting he managed to remove. All that I had left was being able to sense energies. But because he was removing part of my DNA he had to replace it with something else, so he gave me the power of destiny. But all those uncontrollable urges to fight were gone, yet advances were still being made towards Earth. But I was no longer worried because I didn't have to deal with it. Then life went on normally, and soon enough I had my first child. A daughter named Han Dahye."

I straightened at the mention of my name.

"You were the brightest baby out there. You rarely cried and just tried to make your dad and I happy. But when you turned two I could sense the power that was building up inside of you. I thought when I got rid of it, the power wouldn't have been passed down. But you couldn't just remove DNA. So that shaman might have 'shut off' the power for me, but that didn't mean that I couldn't pass it on. So then you had the burden of your great grandmother's declaration. My heart ached knowing you were going to take on what I never had courage for. I almost flew you over to Japan so I could remove it from you too. But while you are my daughter, you are your own person. You were the only one who could  decide for yourself. And thanks to my destiny insight, I knew that you would be the one to face them. But I was still your mother, and I wanted to protected my daughter. Since they were after me, I figured if I moved away, they would come straight for me. So I left you with your father when you were two. I also had hopes that you'd have a normal childhood like I did. But that didn't end up happening. As soon as you turned six you started fulfilling what you were always meant to do."

It was a lot to take in.

Every word sinking into my brain.

By now my cereal had been devoured and I was on round four of coffee.

As we sat in silence I looked up and saw my supposed little brother standing in the doorway, with a confused look on his face.

"But when did he come along? I never saw you until now," I asked, motioning for the little boy to come over.

She smiled, "One day when you were thirteen you were at your friend's house. Your father had asked for me to come see him. He missed me. We were still so madly in love."

She lowered her voice, "Then one thing led to another, you know."

I couldn't help but laugh, instinctively turning to ruffle my little brother's hair.

"So that's why I was over at Hobi's so much when I was thirteen," I chuckled.

"I can't believe you're really Dahye," the boy stared in awe.

"Little bro, you never told me your name," I whined.

He got shy, "Doyum."

What a perfect name for a perfect little brother.

"One more question. I saw Doyum out there and he definitely has power, but you stayed with him. Why?" I asked.

"Simple. It's your destiny, not his," she shrugged.

She was right. Her powers of predicting destiny were also passed down to me. It was my destiny. No one else's.

I checked my phone, "I should probably be heading out."

I ruffled Doyum's hair, "I will be seeing a lot more of you now okay? Make sure you come over."

He nodded happily.

I turned to my mother. Without saying anything I just wrapped my arms around her.

It's been nineteen years since I felt a mother's touch.

I could hear he choke back a sob, "You truly do have the purest heart."

I grabbed my stuff and headed home.
