"You know, you really shouldn't roofie women. It's against the law, and it's a pretty dick move. I should call the cops on you right now."

What the fuck? My mouth dropped open in shock. I would never roofie a woman. I mean, I never needed too anyways, but I wouldn't do that.

I was getting prepared to show her exactly what I did do with the women who came into my room when Mike grabbed her hand and snatched her down the hallway.

"Don't bring her back here Mike," I yelled. I just couldn't be around her. "And don't let her call the cops. The girl isn't roofied. She's drunk."

This chick might actually call the cops. I looked down at the girl in my arms and noticed some blood streaked across my chest. "Oh shit," I muttered out.

Hopefully Chloe hadn't seen that. If she did, maybe she would mention it to Mike. He would take care of it for me.

I took the girl across the hall to Sam's room and set her down gently on the bed, pulling a blanket out of his closet and throwing it on top of her. She would probably be a little chilly from the loss of blood. I grabbed the first aid kit out of the bathroom  and cleaned her neck up quickly, putting a bandage over the small wounds.

It didn't take long and I walked back to my room thinking about blonde streaked hair, and little orange suns inside of hazel eyes. I wondered if she had left yet.

I walked over to my window and stared down at the lawn. There were still so many people milling around down there, stumbling over one another, throwing up, most of them so drunk that I assumed they would be sleeping on the grass.

I saw Mike still holding Chloe's hand, pulling her towards his motorcycle. I felt a little flare of jealousy in my chest, making me want to run down there and snatch their hands apart. Why? That was stupid.

"Oh no Mike, don't put her on that death trap. She can actually be hurt, you idiot." I muttered, watching her swing her leg over the bike and grab his waist.

I really wanted to feel her small hands across my waist, holding onto my abdomen. I let my forehead fall against the glass in exasperation.

"What the fuck is wrong with you Colby? Get it together!" Okay, now I'm talking to myself. She had made me more crazy than I already am. Wonderful.

I turned on my night vision (that's what I called it anyways) so that I could her face more clearly. She really was a beautiful girl.

She pulled a helmet on hiding it from me, but I was glad that she had a little sense. Her face tilted up and searched the house, like she was looking for something. Was she looking for me?

Then her gaze locked onto mine. I'm sure that she couldn't tell that I was staring into her eyes with the helmet on.

I felt an intense longing for her. I didn't understand it.

She looked away from me, and they started to leave. I watched as Mike kicked the bike into high gear, when they made it past the gate.

I know I wanted her to go, to leave and never come back...but I just needed to make sure that she made it home safely. Mike loved to go really fast and a helmet wasn't going to save her if they had a wreck.

Which they wouldn't. Mike was an expert at handling that thing, even without all the extra benefits of being a vampire. I hated that word but that's basically what we are.

I threw a shirt on quickly, pulled on my shoes, and headed downstairs. Sam met me at the door, just as I was grabbing my keys.

"Hey, where are you going? I was about to tell Kat to leave so that we can eat."

I swung the front door open and stepped out, turning back to Sam. "Already did." I replied, and pulled the door shut behind me.

I knew he would come after me, so I sped to my car, trying to keep a 'human' speed about it. I could just run, but I didn't want to draw attention. We had to live as normally as possible.

My car wasn't as flashy as the other guys, probably not as fast either, but it got the job done. It was one of the few possessions I still had from my human life. I felt like it kept me connected. That was probably a load of crap but I liked having it around.

"Colby?! Where are you going?" Yep, predictable Sam.

I didn't answer, instead started my car, revving the engine and speeding out of the driveway as fast as I could without running over any of the drunks milling around. I pushed my old car to her limits, taking back roads to get to Chloe's place as fast as I could. I knew where Kat lived because of Sam. He stalked her a little bit before they actually started dating. A little weird, I know.

'What do you think you're doing right now though Colby?' My subconscious decided to speak up.

I wasn't stalking. I was just making sure that she got home safe.

I shook the thought from my head and pulled up to the curb on the other side of the street from her apartment complex.

I watched as she pulled the helmet from her head and passed it to Mike, smiling at him so happily. I wanted to make her smile like that. I sighed. I guess I should really leave since she's safe.

All of a sudden, I saw her foot catch the side of the bike, throwing her off balance and her body fell towards the hard cement, face first.

Mike's dumb ass wasn't even paying attention! He was looking in the opposite direction, checking his phone.

I jumped out of my car and almost flew over to them. I made it just before she hit the ground, grabbing her around the waist. I picked her up and set her gently back down on the ground, making sure that she had her balance.

Then she turned to Mike. What the fuck? Why did I feel angry about that?
