"This girl...this Chloe," I didn't like the way her name sounded coming off of his lips. "She must mean a great deal to you, if you're willing to retaliate against Millie, knowing that she is one of mine now."

"Chloe is one of ours. Millie started this, knowing that Chloe is to be one of us, that she belongs to us," Sam stated, keeping me from answering Aza's inquiry...but also raising more questions with his off the wall answer.

Aza cocked one eyebrow at me, then looked back at Sam. "So you plan on keeping her around for forever? I assumed you were just using her as a blood bag, and took a liking to her." He shrugged. "That happens to me sometimes and I keep them around a little longer before wiping their memories. We don't kill as much as we used too. I know the council frowns upon that." He glanced at me and smirked.

I felt like he was goading me, for some reason. I was beginning to think that Millie might mean something to him, with the way that he was acting.

"Have you gotten permission from the Council? I know how you lot like your rules." He grimaced at the word rules.

Aza never was one to follow the rules. He took all of the vampires that weren't approved by the council to be made, unless the vampires were presented afterwards and weren't considered a threat, like Sam and I. We were proven to be useful, obviously.

Aza had tried to talk us into joining him, telling us how great it was to not have to answer to the Council all of the time. I would have joined him, if I were being honest.

After Emilie died, and I turned my humanity off, I was a lost cause for a while. I ALMOST joined him...but Sam wouldn't come with me, so I stayed with Elton. Then Sam and I worked hard and proved ourselves, making our way to the top.

Aza seemed to know what I was thinking, when he turned his black eyes to look at me again.

"Such a shame that you didn't join me Colby. We could've had fun together, ruling side by side."

I grinned at him, showing my fangs. "Not a chance, Aza. You wouldn't allow anyone to rule beside you and you know it."

I laughed and he joined me, nodding his head.

"You're right. So does the Council know about your plans then?"

I shook my head. "Not yet, but they will before it happens. We're following the rules."

"I'm sure you are," he replied dryly. "Well, I kind of like having Millie around. She's...entertaining. I'm not so sure that I want you to kill her. Is there another agreement that we can come to?" He clicked his tongue against his teeth, and held his hands out towards us.

I shook my head vehemently. "No way. That's the deal. She had to die, and we won't start a war. Aza, you know that we can take you. We may face a lot of casualties, but you will go down and the Rogue clan will die. It will be no more. Do you really want that?"

He pursed his lips, glancing from Sam and I, then down to his long black nailed hands that he crossed in front of his waist, before looking back up at us. "Hmmm, you drive a hard bargain. Are you sure that you couldn't just give up the human girl? Millie seems to really hate her for some reason. It can't be that big of a deal. She's just a human, after all." His black eyes dragged back over, meeting my own.

I couldn't stop the growl that escaped my throat. I saw his entourage crouch down, preparing to attack at the first sign of trouble. He held his hand up to stop them, as he kept his gaze locked onto mine.

"I see. Well then. I guess I'll need some time to think about my options. Until then, I would suggest keeping a close eye on your Chloe. I really have no control over Millie." He giggled lightly, sounding like a creepy, joyful little boy. "I'm sure that you remember how she can be. She's even worse now that she's a vampire. Feisty little thing. Mmmm," he replied fondly. "I'll be in touch."

Then they were gone, darting over the side of the building quick as lightning.

"AZARIOUS!" I yelled, darting to the edge of the building, looking over it.

He was at the bottom looking up. "Yes Colby?" he asked innocently. "You don't need to yell. It's rude."

I couldn't stop myself from rolling my eyes. "If I see her, or she comes near Chloe, I will kill her. ANYONE who comes near me or mine...they're dead. Fair warning." My voice was low and deadly.

He only grinned at me, like we were the best of friends. "Noted."

Then they were gone, darting through the city.

"What are you thinking?" Sam asked, coming to stand next to me, looking over the edge of the building.

I shook my head, and looked over to him. "I'm thinking that this did not go the way that I wanted it to, at all. He's not going to stop her...and I'm not sure that he's gonna hand her over either. That means a war is coming. Are we ready for that?" I asked, worried about my family.

He shook his head. "No, we aren't...but we will be." He clapped his hand down on my shoulder. "Come on Brother, let's get back home. We have a couple of beautiful women waiting for us."

I smiled at him a little, thinking about Chloe waiting at the house. It finally felt like home now, even though she didn't technically live there.

Wonder what I could do to change that...especially with what might be happening.

"Let's go."

I looked back to make sure that all of the entourage was with us, before jumping over the side of the building, landing gracefully on the ground, Sam beside me. We took off, not waiting for the others, knowing that they were right behind us. When we made it home, I honestly expected something to be wrong.
