I heard the rustle from the phone being handed off and then my good friend's voice came through.

"Colby...brother, I'm-"

"What the fuck Elias??" I yelled. "There can't be a good explanation for this. You betrayed me! You fucked with Chloe's head! You better pray to God, or whoever it is you believe in right now, that there is a way to fix this, to fix her. If not, you'll end up just like Millie. No, I think you might end up like her anyways. This is unforgivable Elias. Where are you? Tell me right now!"

I heard the rustling again and Millie's annoying ass voice came through the little speaker again. "No, no, no handsome. We can't have you coming to kill me just yet, now can we? I know that Aza plans to hand me over in a few days anyways. I'm thinking that maybe I can talk him out of it. He loves it when I play rough. Just like you used to baby."

I cringed with the memories that flooded my brain. "Aza!" I blurted out.

I needed to call Aza. Right now. Tell him what she had done.

He has been around a lot longer than me. Maybe he knows a way to reverse the compulsion. It was worth a shot.

"Fuck you Millie." I spat into the phone, and ended the call.

I called Mike first to see how Chloe was doing.

"Hey brother, is everything okay? Is Chloe okay?" I asked as soon as he answered my call.

"Yeah, Chloe is fine, except for the memory thing I guess. She was searching for her cat for a while. She's settled down now, watching a movie on her laptop in bed."

My back stiffened as I thought about her changing or being in her revealing night clothes and they could see her.

"Mike, Don't-"

I started but he interrupted me.

"No one is looking at her Brother, don't worry." I could actually hear the smile in his voice. "We turned around when she changed. I promise."

"Mike, Elias is the one who wiped her memory." I stated dully.

Elias was Mike's best friend outside of the group. Hell, he was one of my best friends.

I didn't understand why he had done what he had done.

"Can you think of any reason why he would do this? Could Millie have something on him?"

His voice went dead, and cold as ice. "Are you serious? Are you one hundred percent sure Colby?"

"I am, Mike. I spoke with him. He's with Millie now."

"What about that girl that he's been hanging out with? Do you think that Elias fell for a human, and Millie is threatening her or something? I don't know..something isn't right. He wouldn't do this without being forced to. Even then. You know he would die for us."

"Or so I thought." I grumbled out. "Look, I gotta go. Be careful, and protect her with your lives Mike. I mean it."

"No one is touching Chloe brother. We got you."

I ended the call without replying, too intent on getting in touch with Aza now that I knew Chloe was still okay. I could imagine her lying in her bed, in those little black stretchy shorts that I loved so much, maybe a hoodie, or an oversized t-shirt paired with them. Probably watching some romantic comedy that she would never admit to, because she felt like she had to keep her hard persona about her.

Fuck. I missed her so damn much. One day is all it's been and I was going crazy.

Could I compel her to remember? I don't think that works, but anything was worth a shot. I needed to talk to Aza first before I tried anything.

I didn't want to potentially make it worse.

I punched his number in and listened for his voice.

"Colby, my old friend. What did I do to deserve this honor?"

I rolled my eyes at his haughty tone. "Aza, how are you?"

I had to respect the order of things.

I honestly just wanted to force him to tell me everything he knew, but that wouldn't work with him.

"I'm good, friend. I'm good. Are you excited to receive your gift in a few days? I have to say that I will miss her. She's quite the entertainment around here."

"More than ready, old friend. After what she's done this time, I believe it's only right that I receive her earlier."

He chuckled. "Oh my, what has the little minx done now? I hope your girlfriend is okay."

I gritted my teeth, controlling my anger.

Chloe would be proud.

"She has something on one of my men. I'm not sure what but he is with her right now, with your clan. She had him erase Chloe's memories of me, of everyone."

"Oh Colby, I can't do anything about one of your own men betraying you. You know that. Tsk, tsk, you should be careful who you trust chum."

Oh, I fucking hated him right now.

"Aza, I'm telling you, this was Millie. I don't know what she has on him, but she is basically holding him hostage. There is no way that he is there of his own free will. She admitted that she was the one behind it all on the phone with me." I lied, hoping that this would catch his attention.

I was right.

"Oh, well why didn't you say so? Yes, we can't have that. She will have to be reprimanded."

Time for the most important question.

"Aza, do you know of anything that can reverse compulsion? To give Chloe back her memories? I know that if anyone knows, you will." Had to feed the ego on the old bastard.

"Hmmm, I'm not sure. Compulsion is irreversible for all unless the vampire is compelling their One. I'm sure you've heard that."

My heart sank. I wasn't just feeding his ego. I honestly felt that if anyone would know, it would be him.

Or the Council, but I wasn't ready to face them with this because it would bring up questions about Millie. I would if I had to though. Nothing was more important than getting her back.

If it ended up being that her memories were gone for good, then I would start over.
