Luke

I walked into the doctors' surgery, Carla in my arms. She sniffled and coughed as she rested her head in the crook of my neck. I walked up to the front desk.

"Oh, hey, Mrs Hemmings, visiting your husband at work, are you?" the receptionist smiled at me.

"I wish. Carla is ill." I sighed, making her nod.

"Oh, not nice. Well, he's free right now, so just go through." She spoke.

"Thank you." I smiled before carrying her into his office. I opened the door and Luke looked at me.

"Oh, hey, babe." He smiled as he stood up and kissed me.

"What's up?" he asked.

"I think Carla's ill." I mumbled. He sighed and nodded before taking her from me.

"Aww, dear, is my baby girl not very well?" he cooed as he hugged her, her resting her head in his neck.

"Daddy is going to put you down on his seat, and he needs you to sit still, okay?" he asked. She nodded tiredly.

"Good girl." He returned her nod as he sat her down on his chair. He lifted her shirt up so that her stomach was showing as he grabbed his stethoscope.

"This is going to be cold, love." He warned before putting the metal plate against her skin. She looked at him as he listened.

"Good girl, you're doing so well." He smiled as he moved it about. He sighed as he removed the stethoscope and stood up. He looked at me.

"She's showing the early signs of chicken pox." He sighed. My eyes widened.

"What?" I scoffed. He shrugged and looked at her.

"She's only two, at least we'll get this nightmare over and done with earlier." He sighed.

"Luke, I never got chicken pox. If I'm around her, I'm going to contract fucking shingles." I admitted. His eyes widened.

"Shit." He scoffed.

"Right, well, I'll sign you up for a vaccine, but until then, you have to stay away from Carla." He sighed. My eyes widened.

"Luke, you can't be serious. She's my daughter, I can't just stay away from her." I scoffed.

"Babe, you're going to have to." He sighed. I returned it.

"I'll drop her off at mum and dad's on my way home, and she can stay with them until you get the vaccine, it'll only take a day or two." He reassured. I sighed and nodded before looking at Carla.

"Bye, baby. I'll see you later, mummy loves you." I smiled. She returned it.

"See you later, baby." Luke spoke, gently kissing me.

"See you." I sighed before leaving the room.
