Andrew's POV

We just finished practice and I was at my locker changing. I looked at my phone and saw I had 3 messages from Kam and 4 missed calls from Bambi. I ignored it and shoved my phone into the side of my backpack before slinging it on my back.

"Barnes" coach yelled from his office

I walked over

"Close the door" he motioned before sitting down

"Yes coach" I said

I had no idea what he called me in here for

"I've been watching you at practice. I think you would make an excellent captain" my coach said I couldn't help the smile that came to my face "next year meaning I want you to watch and observe your teammates so you'll be ready" he finished my smile faltered a little

Of course I was happy to be captain but I was the best. I should be captain now, I was ready.

"Of course coach" I said forcing a smile

"Great, keep up the good work" he said

I walked out only to be rushed by Ralphy

"What did coach want to talk about?"Ralphy asked as we walked out of the locker room

"He wants me to be captain next year" I said nonchalantly

"Yo! That's dope. Why don't you look excited?"

"I am it's just- nvm" I said letting it go

"Let's go gets some grub bruh. I'm starving"

"I want some waaaaangs" Ralphy sang

As soon as we were in front of the gym the whole gang was sitting and waiting in the parking lot.

"What's poppin slime?We getting food or what" X said standing on his door frame looking over his car

"Y'all slow asses took way too long. Y'all lucky we didn't leave you" B Mack said

"Bruh, you not even driving so shut the fuck up" I responded

"Aye, where tone at?" Ralphy asked

"You know he cup cakin somewhere" Marcus said

We took two cars to the chicken spot. We sat at a long high table and waited to be served

I decided to text Kam back while we waited

It didn't take long for her to reply back

In my dorm room all by myself. I need some company

I smirked to myself as I read the message

"Damn, that waitress hella fine" I heard Marcus say

"Christina" I heard Ralphy yell

I immediately shot my head up. We made eye contact before she shifted her gaze to Ralphy coming up to us.

"Hey Ralphy" she said and gave him a hug as he stood up

I don't know why I felt a compelling urge to hug her but I didn't fight it as I grazed her arm as she pulled away from Ralphy to get her attention. Surprisingly, she gave me a soft smile before coming to give me a hug
