𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐋𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, Orion, sat perched in her tiny corner in the Galaxy. She was surrounded by murmuring Constellations, wondering and worrying.

"Ry. . ." began Lyra, twinkling quietly, "Whatever shall we do? Our Children are in pain."

Lyra's poised fingers were laced together, covering the bottom half of her usually bright face. Lyra, a usually very bubbly constellation, was melancholy. Her eyes shone with the sadness of millions of Star Children.

"We need to take action," growled Ursa Major, covering his son's ears, "He will be back."

Cassiopeia rested a gentle hand on Ursa's shoulder.

"We will think of something. I promise."

Still, Cassiopeia glanced at the pondering Orion. She would be lying if she did not admit she was afraid. The boundaries these Constellations had set eons ago were being pushed by a power-hungry individual driven by greed.

Ophiuchus, a relatively new Constellation, stepped forward nervously.

"Orion. . . ?" she began quietly, not daring to look up.

Orion snapped out of her stupor and lifted Ophiuchus's chin upwards.

"Yes, my child?"

"What if. . . we sent a girl?"

The Constellation murmured angrily.

"A girl?!" spoke up Hercules, drawing himself up to his full height. "Sacrificing a child to end His reign?! Ridiculous."

Orion held up a hand.

"Hercules, please," she said gently. She then turned back to Ophiuchus, "Elaborate."

"Well. . . . we have the power to gift life. . . so I just thought. . . maybe we forge a girl from stardust, and send her to Earth. We grant her power and knowledge. She will lead the army and stride powerful into the arms of Death."

Orion ran a tired hand over her face.

"One life in exchange for thousands. . . ." weighed Orion.

"We will reserve a spot for her, and she will join the dance when the time comes."

Ophiuchus spoke more and more confidently as she went on.

". . . . Okay."

The Constellations went into an uproar.

"This is immoral! You're sending a child on a suicide mission!"

"There must be another way!"

Orion paid no attention. Her eyes were trained on the distant planet Earth, a small speck among billions of Stars. Through all the shouting, the outrage, the complaints, she whispered.

"Oh cursed child, You will fear nothing, for you have already died."
