chapter 10

maddie and jax spent the next few days together. when jax had stuff to do for the club she was either at st. Thomas visiting abel or at jax' house setting up his nursery. gemma would come over and help most of the time, the two women getting to know each other even more.

jax came home late one night worried about shit that was going on with the club. guy name zobelle was causing problems and his right hand man, weston. he had to convince maddie to stay in charming where he could keep an eye on her. hell he wanted her to stay at the clubhouse. he had no idea how he was going to convince her but he needed to, he wouldnt be okay if she went back to tacoma and he had no idea if she was safe or not.

he walked in the house and seen the kitchen light on so he walked in there to see her sitting at the table. "hey baby you hungry? i made dinner a while ago but i can warm you some up." she said standing to meet him.

jax pulled her to him and kissed her hard "i missed you babe." "i miss you to jax. you okay whats going on?" "cant get anything by you can i?" "no jax you cant. now talk to me. maybe i can help or atleast help clear your mind some"

jax pulled her to sit in his lap at the table "were having a little trouble with a new shotcaller in town. ive been trying to figure out a way to convince you to stay here so i can keep you safe. id worry about you in tacoma alone. i trust my brothers up there but not with you and your safety like i trust myself or the guys here."

"jax i understand but i cant just not go back. i can try to get a few more days off. trust me you dont have to worry about me. my daddy taught me how to box, my uncle is a ex-marine who made sure i know a few things and you already know im always carrying. if i cant get off i have to go back though."

"quit. im serious madelyn i cant protect you if youre not here."

"i cant just up and quit my job Jackson. i need to pay my mortgage, and the rest of my bills. i promise i will be safe, no different than being in charming. you have to trust me jax. i will be back as soon as i can. i cant go long without you and abel."

"okay then move down here."

"this is how youre asking me again? in the middle of a conversation about my safety. i would need to pack up and sell my house first."

jax looked shocked "you will."

"dont be so shocked jax. it will be a while probably a couple months like i said pack my shit, move it, list the house, i would need to find a job here."

"you dont need to work maddie. i would rather you stay home and take care of abel. youre forreal?"

"if thats what you want me moving here than okay. but we will talk more about the job thing once its time."

jax kissed her "youre really going to move here with me and abel?"

"why is it so hard for you to understand? yes. i love you and i love abel."

"i was worried you would run when i asked again. especially with the beginning of this conversation. you really would move here and live this hectic sometimes calms life with me? i tell you, you could be in danger and you agree to more."

"jax im not stupid. people talk. ive heard how the sons are in tacoma, so the mother charter cant be much different. youve told me some shit about the club before, ive noticed the untraceable gun you carry, the k-bar you keep on your hip. hell ive cleaned your clothes with blood on them. i think i had pretty good idea of what i was getting into the night we met. the only thing that will make me "run" or leave would be if you were unfaithful or YOU decided to end this."

"i would never end us maddie. youre amazing and i love you."

"i love you. now you need to eat." she said standing up and moving to warm him some food up.

jax watched as she moved around the kitchen fixing him his plate. he couldnt believe she agreed to move to charming. any other woman would have ran when he said she could get hurt but not maddie. no she didn't seem bothered. he thought before shed be a good old lady but now he knew she was his old lady. he just needed to ask her forreal and put his crow on her.

maddie sat with jax with he ate before they went to bed. they spent most of the next day in bed unless they were visting abel or eating. maddie was going abck to Tacoma that night. jax and opie escorted her to tacoma even though maddie told them not to. they were able to to stay for two days until clay needed them back. maddie told jax to go back to charming for abel after the first night. once they left she missed him.

instead of moping around she decided to get to packing even if it could be a month or two before she actually moved to charming she didnt want to be rushed in packing her life up. the only thing she worried about selling her house and moving to charming was if jax changed his mind and she was left fucked. maybe she would rent her house instead of selling it that way it would be there. she had a lot to figure out in a small amount of time.
