Everything felt right, having her in his arms - the feel of her beneath his hands, against his chest. He could have stayed like this forever.

Except that Harry fucking Potter had to exist.

He had not been ready when Potter viciously slammed into his shoulder, wrenching him away from Aurora.

"What the hell, Malfoy?" Potter bellowed, his face screwed up in anger. "That's my date!"

"Fuck off Potter, you don't own her." Draco spat, straightening his shirt from where Potter had ruffled it up.

"She's here with me!" Potter hissed, his face turning purple. "If you wanted to take her to the ball then you should have asked her instead of Parkinson!"

Draco glanced down at Aurora who's face was a picture of horror as people stopped dancing and started glancing over at the commotion.

"Where were you then?!" Draco snarled at Potter, his top lip curling. "Because from where I was sitting you were nowhere to be seen! And please don't tell me you were off trying to save the fucking world again!"

"Well at least I wasn't bouncing around like a stupid little ferret!"

Seeing red, Draco delved into his pocket for his wand and brandished it threateningly in Potter's face.

He heard Aurora let out a little gasp as Potter too, drew his own.

"What in merlin's name is going on here?!"

Draco instinctively dropped his wand arm and wheeled around to see Professor McGonagall approaching them. Great, thought Draco dryly. Fifty points to Gryffindor and sixty away from Slytherin, no doubt.

"Malfoy is trying to come between me and my date." Potter blurted out.

"That's not true!" Aurora cried, and Draco found his heart giving a small flutter at the sound of her defending him.

"Yes it was - he was grabbing you!" Potter spluttered.

Draco couldn't help but let out a derisive snort. Potter really did see what he only wanted to see.

"He wasn't grabbing me, Harry! He was- we were..." Aurora's voice tailed off as her face flushed a deep red. Draco thought how incredibly cute she looked, and had to stop a smile from twitching at his lips.

"Be that as it may," McGonagall sighed, rolling her eyes and turning to Draco. "I think it best if you leave, Malfoy."

"What?!" Draco and Aurora cried out simultaneously.

"I won't you have you upsetting the champions and their dates." McGonagall explained brusquely as Potter watched on smugly.

Draco felt a red hot anger swoop low through the pit of his stomach.

"Fine," he spat, angrily thrusting his wand back in pocket. "It was a shit party anyway."

And with that, he wheeled on the spot, marched over to where he had been sat, grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair and stormed out of the hall.

Draco Malfoy knew where he was not wanted.

...

I watched as the white-blond haired Slytherin disappeared through the Great Hall doors.

Anger coursed through me on his behalf.

"There was no need to ban him!" I cried, looking from McGonagall to Harry, both of whom were shaking their heads disparagingly. "He didn't do anything wrong!"

"I was trying to find you!" Harry cried, looking hurt. "I asked the DJ to play that song so that we could dance together, and I find him all over you instead!"

A wave of guilt washed over me as I realised how horrible that must have felt for him.

But I felt worse for Draco.

"Where are you going?" Harry yelled as I ran after Draco's path.

"I'm sorry." I called back.

But I wasn't.

...

"Draco!"

I had flown through the doors into the Entrance Hall as Draco was just about to descend the stairs to the dungeons.

He paused and turned slowly on the spot to face me, jacket flung lazily over his shoulder, hooked idly on one finger.

His eyes widened slightly upon seeing me breathless and panting. The door slammed shut behind me, cutting off the sounds of the ball.

"You're not staying in there with Potter?" He drawled, cocking a quizzical eyebrow.

"I don't want to be with him." I stated. "He wasn't the one I wanted to be with tonight."

He looked at me curiously as if contemplating what I was saying. And then slowly, he sauntered back across the Entrance Hall towards me. My heart thudded in my chest as I stepped forwards to join him, taking his outstretched hand in mine.

"Come on," he growled softly, twining his fingers around mine, "I know a place we can go."

I let him lead me silently through the castle's corridors and up various staircases.

Eventually, we ascended a spiral staircase and out onto a rooftop.

"The Astronomy Tower," he explained, not letting go of my hand as he led me over to the railings looking out over the grounds.

I looked around in awe at the beautiful view before us as we stood under the night sky's blanket of twinkling stars.

"It's so beautiful," I breathed.

I heard him sigh softly, and looked up at him. A breath caught in my throat as his silver grey eyes locked onto mine.

"I really want to kiss you." He murmured softly, bringing his other hand up to gently caress my cheek with his fingertips. "I've wanted to since the moment I met you."

"Then kiss me," I shivered, looking up earnestly into his eyes. "Kiss me, Draco."

His grey eyes swirled down at me with a look of such longing as he tenderly cupped my face, the feel of his fingers against my skin making me melt into a pool.

My whole body trembled in desire as he brought his lips down upon mine, first brushing against them softly, before applying a firmer pressure, a low growl emitting from the back of his throat as I opened my mouth ever so slightly, allowing our lips to nip and pull tenderly against the other.

I had never felt so alive. It was as though tiny fireworks were exploding in my stomach, sending heated, thrilling sparks cascading throughout my entire body.

It was sensual, it was beautiful, it was everything.

Eventually - reluctantly; he broke away, releasing a deep contented sigh as he rested his forehead down upon mine.

"I wanted to ask you tonight," he murmured, brushing his fingers through my hair and lovingly tucking it behind my ear, "I didn't want to be here with anyone but you."

I felt my stomach twist uneasily. "But... Pansy?"

"I'm sorry about her," he sighed, circling his arms around my waist and pulling my body tightly to him as he rested his chin on top of my head. "She has this warped idea that we're together, but I promise you that we aren't."

I nuzzled my face contentedly into his chest, trying to push away the apprehension I felt.

"Cedric's going to kill me," I mumbled, my voice muffled as I shivered against him, trying to gain warmth from his body.

"Sod the rest of them," he chuckled, picking up his jacket to wrap over my shoulders. He pressed his lips firmly against my brow. "Up here, tonight, it's just you and me."

My heart fluttered in delight as his lips connected with mine again.

Because he was right. It was just me and him, and in that moment, nothing else mattered.
