Rayne's POV

I was all cried out by the time I reached the bed, Illeya snaked an arm around my waist and pulled me in towards him. I couldn't help but fall into a deep sleep, only for my dreams to be consumed  by memories of my dad and mom. I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. I had seen him die, in that very room and yet not been in it since. I didn't want to disturb anything in that room, but there was something about mom's perfume that just pulled me in. Something familiar and comforting.

The next morning, I woke up and then left the still sleeping Illeya to go wake up Micheal, I headed down the hallway and knocked on the room that he was in. I entered the room and he sat on his bed, phone glued to his hand.

"Hey mom." He greeted and I smiled at him,

"Hey, I have something to show you. Come with me, no need to get changed or anything." He smiled and placed his phone in his pyjama pocket and followed me. I walked along the corridor, Micheal in toe and stopped by the painting of mom and dad. I sat down and motioned for him to sit with me. He glanced up at the picture, "They are my mom and dad, they're both dead as you know but this painting has been kept in a pristine condition for as long as I can remember." He glanced up at my mom, and then said,

"She looks a lot like you." I nodded and then wrapped my arm around Micheal, I leaned into him and then said,

"My mom and dad had the most amazing relationship ever, I might not be able to remember it but I've heard the stories and seen the photos. My father would always tell me-" I stopped and cleared my throat before I impersonated his voice, "Find someone who challenges you, who will wait for you, who makes you smile so much that your cheeks start to hurt. All I want is for you to find someone who makes you happy Raynie, whether they be a man, a woman, a fucking alien for all I care. Just not a cop or lawyer. Precautions y'know." I chuckled softly and then glanced up at the painting once more, "I never took it seriously, but now I knew why he told me, so I could tell you and others, I know that you are young, but you are of an age where you might start dating or experimenting so just keep that message from him in mind." He nodded and I stood up, I pulled him up and then went to my room with him and woke Illeya and dragged him out of bed as he muttered some curses the poor baby. I led them both through to mom and dads room,

"Now, see how classy my mom and dad truly were." I opened the wardrobe and simply displayed the array of fancy attire, Illeya and Micheal were awestruck at the amount of suits that dad had, "I know, I can not really remember him in his prime and even his later days not wearing a suit. They were his secret addiction I think." Illeya chuckled and then wrapped an arm around me, Micheal rooted around a bit, and pulled out a bag. A black, sealed bag, he opened it and pulled out three plastic bags. Clothes soiled with blood were in the bag. Micheal glanced over at me and I quickly snagged them off him, these couldn't be. I read the tag, 'Fleurie Marie Bailey Marshall' followed by her date of death and cause of death. Tears flooded to my eyes and I wobbled on my feet, no. Dad kept these, the last clothes that she had ever worn. In there, there was a necklace. A small golden butterfly that had '10 years ma reine I love you.' engraved on it, it had been cleaned of blood and was in a separate pouch within the bag. I slowly reached inside the bag and took out the pouch, it opened it and then glanced at the necklace. I had nothing of my mothers. My father had given the majority of it to my sister, and kept some of it. After he died, he didn't tell us what to do with it. It was clear that he couldn't bare to part with her things. I sat on the floor, examining this necklace, as my boys watched me.

"Ma reine, my father would always call my mother that. Or speak about her as ma reine. It meant my queen, my mother was half French and spoke the language fluently." I sighed and toyed with it in my palm.

"Raynie, where are you?" I heard Ollie call out. I stood up shakily and wandered out of the room, the boys following behind me. I waved at him from the top of the stairs and I walked down and greeted him, my hand enclosed around the necklace. He hugged me tightly and then glanced at my face, "What's wrong?" He asked and I showed him the necklace, he gasped quietly and took it, examining it. "This is the only piece of mom's jewellery that wasn't accounted for when we checked everything after dad died, where did you find it?" I pointed at Micheal who smiled slightly,
