Chapter 27: The Rescue Date

Sophie's heart stopped.

This was all her fault. She had convinced them to split up and now he was all alone and who knows what's going to happen to Keefe.

Sophie had to think fast. She looked around and found an umbrella. She grabbed it for protection as she slowly walked down the stairs.

When she made it to the main floor, Grady was nowhere in sight. He must have gone after Keefe. Sadly, Sophie knew she couldn't ask him using the walkie talkie since Sophie knew that whoever had Keefe, would hear too.

Sophie carefully opened the door to the basement. Cool air blasted Sophie which made her shiver. Sophie carefully tiptoed down the stairs.

Please don't squeak! She pleaded the stairs. But, when she hit the last step, it squeaked.

Oh no...

Sophie braced herself to be caught, but nothing happened.

They were hiding! They were going to pop out and scare her at any moment!

The thought scared Sophie so much, she couldn't move for a few seconds.

Sophie then walked around. It was very quiet. Sophie gasped when she saw blood stains on the ground. She looked up to see glass shattered everywhere. Sophie then saw a lock of curly blonde hair on the ground.

Not the Hair!

This couldn't be good.

"C-Come out, wherever y-you are! I know you're here!" Sophie called.

Silence was her answer.

Sophie quickly checked the rest of the basement, but there was no one.

Did they leave?

Sophie panicked. Grady also wasn't here. They couldn't be gone!

No! No! No!

Sophie felt tears prick her eyes.

She shivered from the sudden cold air. It felt like a draft. Sophie quickly looked around to where the cold air was coming from and noticed that there was a backdoor that was open.

How could she have missed that?

Sophie quickly got up. As she was walking towards the door she heard footsteps upstairs.

Run!

Sophie quickly ran out the door. When she took in her surroundings, she noticed that there was a forest close by. Sophie looked down and noticed that there were several faint footsteps on the ground leading that way.

Sophie ran, following the footsteps into the woods.

Linh's P.O.V

Linh looked at herself in the mirror as she brushed her silky hair.

Everything is going to be great! Just be yourself.

Linh smiled as she put away her hair brush, slipped on her boots, and headed downstairs.

"Where do you think you are going?" Tam said, blocking her path to the door.

"Brother, I already told you. I'm going out with Fitz," Linh said.
