"You!" The one who stabbed me bellowed.

Before he could take a step towards me his knees kissed the floor and started vomiting blood.

"Nnhg! What's happening to me?"

"This. Is what. You. Want. Isn't it?" I managed to wheeze out. It was harder to breathe but I could somehow still stand with the support of the bench.

"I–I feel like dying. . ."

His men were hesitant to approach him.

"'Course you are. The power. You want is taking. Your body." I coughed another blood.

Stabbing into one's heart was faster to take life. It was also a way to place a curse on someone.

I was almost at my limit. My life force was being drained by the dagger. Taking it out wouldn't do much but making my death faster.

"You knew this and yet you didn't tell me?!"

I smirked down at him and raised my middle finger. "No need to thank me," I said in a whisper but it was loud enough for him to hear.

"You little bitch!"

Suddenly we all heard a loud bang that the church shook. Rubbles and dust fell from the ceiling. The church filled with light making it more sickening to see. Blood almost filled the floor, lifeless bodies piled on one side.

Turning towards where the light, I saw Lucas, then Edmund, and last Aiden before I was staring at the dark high ceiling. I was seeing things. I would understand if Aiden was here but Lucas and especially the king himself were with my brother, it must be the cursed item affecting my eyes or perhaps my brain. I was being delusional.

"Princess!" A voice shouted that was very alike from Lucas.

Now I was hearing things.

The sound of clashes of swords made me think of the war I have participated in. I met different people at different wars at different times. It always makes me wonder why do mortal love playing wars?

The man near me laughed. "I'm back! I am no longer trapped inside that dagger! Ooh! This body is pretty strong. Shall we test my power?"

It seems the evil spirit was now revived.

Well, it's no longer my problem. I was dying anyways. . .

Let's just peacefully leave this place. Eyes fluttered as they close to a shut.

"Goodbye."

While I was giving my farewell to everyone I know of I was reminded of the pain I've been ignoring until now when someone took my hand so suddenly. The pain from the movement was agonizing that in the brick of death my eyes widely opened. All I could do was made a whimpering sound.

Even my eyes were moistened with unshed tears I knew the pair of gold eyes belong to.

Did he come to torture me?

"Elaine." There was a rawness on his voice. "My child."

My slowing beating heart skips a beat. I blinked my eyes plenty of time to see clearly.

He was not wearing his cold expressionless face but it held worry and regret. His eyes were deep of fear.

"Fa–Father. . ?"

The curse was acting up again that I was seeing something so unnatural, something unrealistic.

The third cough came that my blood clearly sprayed up and came back down to my face.

I then now realized I wasn't imagining things. This man was real. His face was now covered with my blood and his eyes were mesmerizing as ever.
