"You're not as bright as the rumors say," I stated.

The heroine's face turned red. "I know I grew up in the slum but you don't have to be mean. All I want is to be close to you like brother Aiden."

Mean words, huh.

"I apologize but you shouldn't force someone to get along with you." It's not like I hate her, it was more like I just don't want to be with her. I don't think we'll get along so might as well make a boundary between us.

"Is it because I came from the slum?" She asked blocking my way when I tried to move. Her face was contoured in displease.

Why does she keep on mentioning her origin?

I gave a look at Bwi telling him not to interfere before a sigh escaped my lips. "It doesn't matter if you're from the slum or not."

"If that's not the case why don't you like me?"

The way she said that. . . it was as if I was obligated to befriend her.

"Should there be a reason to not associate with someone I don't want to be with?" I asked bluntly.

"Everything has a reason. Every action and words, there's a reason to it," the heroine said sounding like any heroine. "Do you think that I'll take all the attention of father and brother Aiden from you? That's why you're acting like that towards me?"

Oy. What's with that? You're speaking to someone who's older than you.

"Be careful with your words, Magnolia." I stared straight to her eyes. "Or you might find yourself in a difficult situation."

She took a step back still wearing her brave face but her eyes flashed in fear. "I– I'm not afraid!"

She's really wasn't bright after all.

Deciding to end this trivial talk I nodded in agreement and excused myself. Bwi was giving me a worried stare.

With his materials placed on the table, he gestured saying "Are you okay? You're stiff."

I didn't realize just now. Having to encounter the heroine I unconsciously put my guard up. Loosening my muscles I was about to speak when Magnolia spoke first.

"Rick?" She was looking directly towards Bwi with wide eyes.

"Rick. . ?"

The observant Bwi saw my eyebrows slightly raised and said, "She named me after her dead dog back in the slums."

Should I call this fate or coincidence? That they knew each other from the slums and found their way here as the second princess and an attendant. Quite a love story if you ask me.

But naming him after a dog was worst than naming him like a pet.

"Why? Why are you here? Everyone's looking for you and your father. I was worried that something bad happened to you." A genuine tear rolled down her cheek.

Bwi ignored the kind Magnolia. "Princess, his majesty is requesting for you in his office."

Seems like a reunion will start, I better get out of here while the drama hasn't escalated.

With a nod, I left the two childhood friends and wondered why the king wants to see me.
