Justin: Remember, I am still your friend, I just don't want to show Bryce, Monty and co that I care because he will turn this into a bad thing.

I know, J.

Justin: See you at school :)

See you :)

She felt better now, her headache was gone. Zach and Justin left an hour before school, to shower and change. Leaving Elizabeth to get ready and drive herself in. It wasn't a hot day, but rather muggy, so she had chosen to wear shorts. And wearing sneakers felt foreign, as she's usually in boots that made her a few inches taller to feel somewhat closer to her peers.

As she got into her car, her phone began ringing. Seeing it was her dad wanting FaceTime, she quickly answered and cheered, seeing his face appear. "Hey, dad. How's tia?" She asked.

"Hola, mija. She's in hospital, I'm going to be here for a while." He stated. "I sent you money last night, for groceries and what not."

"Okay, dad. Te extraño."

"Te quiero, mija."

She ended the call, beginning her drive to the school. Entering through the double doors, she was greeted by Clay. He smiled, pulling her into a side hug. "Feel better?" She nodded and walked to her locker.

"You seem upbeat, what happened?" She questioned, frowning at him and pulling her Spanish book out. He sniggered, looking down at his phone, and back up at Elizabeth.

"I have another date with Ani this weekend." He cheered quietly.

"That's brilliant news!" She squealed, pulling him into a hug. "I'll have to meet this Ani soon, see why she's making Clay Jensen so happy." He nodded, holding the phone up to his ear and walking away. She felt a presence behind her, well a few, but ignored it. Today was not the day to be wearing shorts. She knew exactly who it was, but turned round anyway.

"Hey," Monty smiled. "Where were you at lunch? Boning Justin?" He laughed, mumbling the word 'slut' under his breath. Bryce looked pissed off, shoving him away from the group.

"What did I fucking say, Monty?" He asked, turning his attention back to Elizabeth. "Liz, I have a party coming up soon. Will I see you there?"

"I don't know." She turned her head, seeing Justin glaring at her. Or Bryce? She didn't know. Closing her locker and hearing her phone buzz, she departed from the group and checked her phone on the way to Spanish.

Justin: Were they bothering you?

No, Bryce was asking if I wanted to go to his party soon.

Justin: Oh, right. And what did you say?

I wasn't sure yet, and then I walked away, as you saw. Is this our only form of communication during school hours?

Justin: For the time being, I'm afraid.

Well, I'm going to Spanish. How's your letter coming along?

Justin: I can't say, you'll read it when it's finished.

:)

Justin: ;)

She made her way to Spanish, expecting the same assignment Justin has. And she was right. She spent most of the class deciding on who to write it to. The thought of Justin he crossed her mind a few times, but what would she write? She was glad to have at least a handful of people she could write to.

"Hey," she heard. "You're new, right?" She turned to see a boy beside her, a dirty blonde head of hair. She smiled and nodded. He held his hand out, for her to shake. "I'm Alex."

"Elizabeth; you can call me anything shorter than that." He laughed at her response, twirling his pen around his fingers.

"Are you any good at Spanish? I have no clue what any of this means?" He asked, sliding the page over to her. She read over the Spanish sentences, with ease, watching his expression change from neutral to shocked. "So, you learnt Spanish?"

"As a first language. English was pretty difficult, but I've been learning it since I was a child." She explained. "Oh, and '¿qué estudia?' means 'what are you studying?'."

"Thank you." He smiled, scrawling her translation onto the paper. "Maybe we can be homework buddies, what subject aren't you good at?"

"Bold of you to assume I'm bad at something." She retorted, laughing. "But I'm pretty bad at math, algebra, to be precise."

"Well I'm glad to be of assistance."
