This chapter takes place during Season 5 Episode 1. I am not responsible for spoilers in the comments.

Marley stood in front of her kitchen sink, staring out the window that hung over it. The open expanse of grassy fields that she could see beyond the glass normally elicited a feeling of comfort and peace. But now when she looked over the fields all she could think was that out there somewhere Sam and Dean were on opposite sides and yet both were trying to stop the apocalypse.

Marley grabbed her cell phone and punched in Bobby's number. The line rang, but nobody answered. Marley frowned. It had been over a day and still nothing from Bobby.

"Screw this." Marley muttered to herself.

She was done sitting around and waiting. At the very least she was going to head to Bobby's so that she was close by when they figured out where the boys were.

There was a whirlwind of medical personnel swarming around them. Medical machines beeped, doctors were calling out directions, and families were crying in the waiting area.

Dean looked down at his hands that were covered in blood- Bobby's blood. He had been possessed by a demon and somehow managed to overpower the thing enough to use the demon knife to stab himself. It had killed the demon but Bobby was critically injured in the process.

"Sammy, we got to go."

"No. No way Dean."

Sam ran a hand through his hair, panic beginning to fill every vein in his body as he watched Bobby be wheeled around the corner and out of sight. Bobby had always been their rock and now... Sam couldn't imagine never being able to see him again.

"The demons heard where the sword is. We got to get to it before they do, if we're not too late already."

It never ceased to amaze Sam how focused Dean could be on a mission despite whatever was happening around them. Sure he knew that finding the Michael sword was important, but this was Bobby, the man who had basically raised them. He couldn't just leave him in the hospital by himself.

"Sam!" He turned his head to see Dean was already out of the building and heading towards the impala. "Come on lets go!"

Sam jogged after his brother and hopped into the car before Dean pulled out of the parking lot, wheels screeching against the pavement.

"Dean-"

"He'll be okay Sammy. Bobby always comes through."

"I just feel bad leaving him there ya know?"

Dean sighed slightly. "As soon we get the Michael sword we'll come right back."

Sam nodded in resignation. Silence passed between them for a minute with nothing but the purr of the engine.

"Dean-"

"Not now Sammy."

Sam paused for only a second before speaking. "Maybe we can call Marley and have her go to the hospital for Bobby."

"Crap."

"What?"

"Nothing." Dean said shaking his head and tossed his phone over to Sam. "Knock yourself out."

Sam narrowed his eyes slightly, an amused look crossing his face. "You forgot to call her when we were at the motel yesterday didn't you?"

"Well I was going to." Dean muttered. "But then that wacky chick showed up and I got distracted."
