This chapter takes place during Season 5 Episode 2. I am not responsible for spoilers in the comments.

A few days later Marley was playing a game of war with Bobby. Turns out the old man was a sucker for playing card games and Marley didn't mind spending her time playing with him since he was stuck in the hospital for awhile longer. The boys were frequently there as well to keep Bobby company, both of them still feeling slightly responsible for what had happened to him even though it was neither one of their faults, which the old man had made quite clear.

Castiel had dropped by one day upon Dean's request and warded Marley from angels the same way he had done for the Winchesters. Marley had been worried it wouldn't work and her body would try to heal, but it turns out the angel branded her ribs, and her body didn't identify them as being broken- therefore her body didn't attempt to heal them.

Marley was currently whooping Bobby's butt in war and he only had about 15 cards left in his hand. She had just lost her 7 against his 9 in a battle when Bobby's cell phone rang. Sam was reading a book and sitting in that awful blue chair across the room, and Dean was leaning against the window close to where the pair was playing cards watching the game unfold. All eyes were on Bobby as he talked on the phone. Marley's attuned ears could hear the static and crackling from where she sat. The connection was horrible and Bobby was struggling to hear anything coherent from the other end of the line.

"River Pass, Colorado?"

Marley turned to look at Dean, curious if that meant anything to him. He shrugged, his arms remaining crossed over his red flannel, but he mouthed 'case' as his best guess. A minute or two later Bobby flipped his cell phone shut, his gaze immediately going to Dean.

"That was Rufus, an old friend of mine."

Marley couldn't help the snort that left her nose. "I thought you didn't have friends."

Bobby rolled his eyes. "Well he definitely wouldn't say we're friends, but I'm the closest he's got to one."

"He a hunter?" Dean questioned.

Bobby nodded. "One of the better ones. And if he's calling for help... well he don't ask for help."

"He give you any clue what we'll be hunting?" Sam spoke up, tossing his book onto the table next to him.

"Demons... and a lot of 'em from what I could gather."

"Alright." Dean stood up straight and clapped his hands together. "Come on Sammy we got some demons to kill."

"Dean I'm not asking-"

"I know. But a buddy of yours needs help and we'd do anything to help you out."

Sam nodded, his face sincere. "He's right Bobby. This isn't something you have to ask us to do."

Bobby nodded his thanks at them and the boys headed for the door. Marley was on her feet and following behind them when Dean turned around and held up his hand.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm coming to help."

"Look I appreciate the enthusiasm and all, but we can handle this."

Marley frowned at him. "You're really going to turn down an extra pair of hands, not to mention another brain?"

"I'm not bringing you into the middle of something when we don't even know what we're going into."

Marley rose her eyebrows and glanced between Sam and Dean. A noise came out of her mouth that was somewhere between a scoff and a laugh.

"You can't be serious." Another laugh. "Look I may not be as experienced at hunting as you guys, but I can take care of myself."
