[Caution]
Before we dive into the new chapter, I want to tell you that I changed the debt of Jo's father from 5 million dollars to 50 thousand dollars because the latter is more realistic. Sorry for the change🙏 Also, I'm deeply sorry that it took me so long to finish this chapter because of my exams🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️
Anyway, let's start!

I can't believe I've just passed the first stage considering this ruined clothes I'm wearing right now. To ensure that I'm not dreaming, I pinch my arm, only to be welcomed by a pain.  Yep, I'm wide awake. Now I have no clue why the hell I could pass. But I'm sure of one thing. That is fashion is beyond my comprehension.

Not long after I returned to the backstage, all of the candidates finished their performance. And now we are in the dressing room, changing our outfits to our school uniforms. I receive some glares from here and there while changing but I just shrug them off. Probably, they are jealous since I was told that I passed right away earlier. It's not my fault that my wrecked clothes were liked, bitches!!
"Come back to the stage in 2 minutes."
The director announces from the speaker and we all hurry up with what we're doing and get out of the dressing room. Once we arrive at the stage wing, the director requires us to line up on the stage, which we oblige. The stage is lit up with numbers of spotlights and it is hard to see the audience because of the contrast of the brightness. However, I narrow my eyes and look for the specific someone I haven't seen since he ran to the bathroom this morning. Where the hell is he? At this point, I'm worried about him.

"Our gorgeous ladies are back. Don't you agree they nailed the stage earlier?"
To this comment from the host, the loud cheers and claps are generated from the crowd.
"However, to our great sorrow, a half of them have to leave this stage immediately. And now, I would like to announce the candidates who passed the first stage!!!"
He shouts excitedly shortly after he sounds sad that he has to tell a half of us to pack our things and go home. Gosh, is he bipolar?? I secretly roll my eyes. He pulls out an envelope from the inner pocket of his jacket and open it. There is a sheet of paper inside, on which the names of successful candidates are written. Although I was told that I passed earlier, I'm still nervous somehow, thinking what if the judges have changed their minds.
"Are you ready, girls?"
He glances at us with an evil grin and shifts his gaze back on the paper. I ball my sweaty palms in anxiety.

Then, he begins reading the names out loud one by one, making some of us happy and some cry.
"... , Dove Cameron,"
Fuck. She also passed this stage even though she tried to ruin me. I huff in annoyance as she jumps up in joy a few people away from me. Her high-pitched squeal pierces my ears.
"Zendaya Coleman,"
I feel a slight pain in my heart when I hear her name called. Of course she has passed because she absolutely killed the stage with her blessed body and a great fashion sense. Nevertheless, a pity, selfish part of me couldn't help but wish she didn't pass. I'm such a bad person for wishing someone else's unhappiness.
"Josephine Langford,"
My name is called and some audience boo whilst my people congratulate me. Among those voices, I try to detect his yet it's not there. Hasn't he come back from the restroom yet?
Or he might have gone home, giving up on you. My insecurity puts this idea into my heart. No no no no. He would never do that to me, would he? Nervousness eats me up as I'm caught up in my own world. Therefore, I didn't even notice that the presenter has done his job as a "death god".

Contrary to what most of the audience expected, Jo has passed the second and third stage. We call it nothing but a miracle.
