Raph x reader (New Years Special!)

Title of the oneshot: I'd Rather Be Me

(Y/n)'s p.o.v

I've always lived with the turtles... long story short, they were on a Kraang mission when I was also taken from my home. My parents died trying to protect me, but the guys saved me and I've been with them since. That feels like it's been so long ago- 2020 feels like it was almost as rough as losing my parents. 'Quit thinking about them, you know you cry at the thought!' I scold myself and shake my head. We're setting up for the New Years party - even if it'll only be the five of us, we're still doing it.

"Come on, Princess - get your head out of the clouds!" Raph says and ruffles up my hair, I smile and blush softly at this. I grab some streamers and start trying to hang them up, not being able to get Raph out of my head now. After I was done with the streamers I just walk around the lair a bit, trying to think on the music list. The guys and I all have different tasks for tonight - Mikey's ordering the pizza, Donnie is in charge of the lights. Raph is in charge of the snacks as Leo tries to make sure.... I don't really know what he's doing.

Raph's p.o.v

I look around for my stash of chips that I've hid under my bed, but someone knocks on my door 'please be her-' "come in!" I say as I still look. From under my bed I can tell that it's green feet, so I huff at this "what? Can't ya see I'm busy??" I ask annoyed. "You know how we're all doing something for tonight?" Leo asks me 'what's with his tone?' I think confused. "Yeah, what about it?" I ask as I finally found my chips and start crawling backwards. What I didn't expect was his next words "mine is helping you with (Y/n)-" I hit my head on my bed trying to get up faster.

"Ow!" I yell out and finally get out as I rub my head while I look at Leo with wide eyes, he's smirking, so I shake my head and try to play this off. "Whaddaya mean 'help me'?? Me and (Y/n) are perfectly fine-" "don't play dumb, Raph - you love her." I softly blush and stand up saying "so what if I do, Fearless? It's not like you'd actually be able to help." With that I just walk back towards the kitchen and look for the chip bowl that we've always had. Leo followed me as he softly said "but I'm pretty sure I have a plan" 'well, you are a wuss when it comes to her. Accept the shell-heads offer!'

Groaning I ask "fine, what's your plan??" I set the chip bag in the bowl and start looking around for our big bottles of soda to put in the fridge. Leo then whispers the plan into my ear, and I already felt like I was about to be nervous. "Uh uh, no way! There is no way on this mutant infested Earth you are getting me to do that."

(Y/n)'s p.o.v

-later on that night-

As everyone was dancing I had my school stuff in front of me as I tried to prepare myself for my online classes soon. I've been trying to avoid it, but I can't really do that forever... Mikey paused my music though. "Mikey, what the heck man?!" Donnie asks annoyed, so Leo ran out quickly and came back with an acoustic guitar. I raise an eyebrow at him, but he handed it to Raph and pushed him towards me. This got a soft blush to arise onto my face, but Leo pulled me onto the dance floor 'okay, this is confusing.'

I look at Donnie to see he's looking at me, we both shrug our shoulders in confusion, but Mikey makes me look at Raph. "Dudette, you're supposed to look up there!!" Mikey exclaims as Raph grabs a microphone that we found. He breathed in and out saying "this is... d-DeDiCaTeD-" Raph cut himself off to clear his throat. Then he continues- "dedicated... to someone very important to me.... (N/n), please don't hate me." My eyes felt like they even got wider somehow as Raph strums at a few notes on the guitar.

Raph: I'd rather be tall..
I'd rather be smart..
I'd rather be sure you know I care~..

I smile softly at this as I put some of my hair behind my ear, but he looks me straight in the eyes as he continues.

Raph: wherever ya go..
Whatever ya start..
I'd rather be sure ya know I'm there~..
I'd rather I always be a part of whatever you do~-..
I'd~- rather be me.. with you~..

My smile grows as my blush does too, so Raph nervously smiles as he just looks down at his hands, probably trying to concentrate.

Raph: wherever we go..
I already trust..
I'd know what ta do if it were us~..
I'd know what ta say..
I'd know how ta be..
I'd know your entire syllabus~..
I can't think of any other thing in the world~- I would rather~- do~~-..
If I could be
I'd rather be me.. with you~..

Leo starts clapping, but Raph didn't quit strumming the guitar, so Donnie slowly lowers Leo's hands as I am holding myself back. 'I really wanna hug him right now!!!' I think as I hold my hands together tightly, waiting patiently for him to finish. Mikey gasps quietly whispering "he's gone rogue!!" I was a bit confused, but still just listened to Raph.

Raph: if I could be me..
I'd know how ta see..
See if ya could choose a pain like me~..
The damage inside, a mountain to climb
I'd rather you stay safe far behind!~..
If I could be me then maybe I would do more than just drag~- you down~..
I~- can not be me.. with me~..

My eyes got a bit glossy at this, but Donnie whisper asks me "did you know this was gonna happen?" I shake my head. "No, not really" I whisper back to him as we realize Raph is still strumming the guitar.

Raph: too selfish ta leave..
But hope you will stay..
Endure life together, come what may~..
I promise ta cling, to comfort and sing..
No matter what this town may bring~..
I am a mistake, and people like me just don't get lucky twice~..
If I could be me... I'd learn how to love.. like~.. you~~...

The guys' timers went off, so I ran over to Raph and hugged him tight, he went stiff for a second, but hugged back and mumbles "Happy New Year." "WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED?!" Donnie yells out confused, so I laugh softly as I only hug Raph tighter. Thinking over the lyrics I just say "well... I don't think you're a pain and I think I can't be me with me either. Let's try being us with each other" Raph nods once and says "man, that took forever to think of." "Yet you thought of the end like a boss!!" Mikey yells, so Leo says "yeah, Raph!" Those two started to laugh.

"Ya know... my resolution was ta not pummel my bros-" Raph says as he sets me down besides him, so Mikey and Leo share a look. Donnie walks over by us as Raph cracks his knuckles and neck saying "looks like that's not happenin." Then he starts chasing around his older and youngest bro, so I lean against the table. Donnie crossed his arms saying "you're in for a crazy ride, (Y/n)" I look at him, then back at Raph. The passion in his eyes made me smile softly saying "yeah, but I think I was born ready for this ride."
