It's a Different Case

To say Midoriya was disappointed was saying nothing.

He knew they were still students. He knew they were only practicing. He knew that they didn't exactly have time to practice like he did. They never had to fear for their lives if they lacked practice, and they never saw anyone get killed because they weren't ready. But still!

As Midoriya stood on the sidelines, watching as Ashido fought against Sato, he couldn't help but feel...Offended, if that term could be used.

Ashido was running away, Sato was rushing after her. Sure, Ashido was flexible and dodged fabulously, and sure, Sato was also fast and good at punches, but...They were lacking something, something that Midoriya knew the other villains he met, and fought alongside with, had. They weren't going all out, and they acted like it was only training. Hell, he could see Ashido was teasing Sato! And sure, she could be trying to infuriate him, but by how Sato was smiling as well, it seemed like...Seemed like...

"They're playing." Midoriya grunted under his breath. Suddenly, he heard a hum from beside him, and he snapped his head to his right where his teacher was glancing at him curiously.

"You noticed it too, huh?" Aizawa stated more than asked. Midoriya gulped nervously as his cheeks immediately started to burn, embarrassment taking him over. He had just said that Aizawa's students, EraserHead's students, were play-

"Wait. What do you mean, too?" Midoriya suddenly realized. Aizawa huffed amusingly as he smirked at Midoriya, before looking back at the field, watching as Ashido sprayed Sato with her acid, slightly missing.

"Don't think that they're not. You're right. I knew you'd be good at telling, but still...I'm impressed. You've got good observation skills. I also noticed that during my fight against you..." Aizawa grunted the last part, and although Midoriya felt flattered by the compliment, he couldn't help but tense up at the memory of him knocking out the pro hero beside him. Oh shit...He still has a grudge against me, doesn't he? Midoriya realized with a small, awkward chuckle.

"I-I'm sorry about that. I didn't exactly have any other choice back then, b-but I didn't mean to knock you out..." Midoriya stuttered as he looked away from his teacher, flustered. Aizawa nudged his shoulder, and Midoriya flinched from the action, but quickly regained his composure as Aizawa pointed at the two heroes in training again, speaking lowly.

"It's fine. This just shows how good you are, if you can beat a pro at your age." Aizawa quickly assured, and Midoriya slightly relaxed as Aizawa's face once again turned stern as he turned back towards the field. "I can't say I judge them, but they don't know what's actually out there. What they've seen is only small attacks, the villains weren't aiming to actually kill them. If someone sent an assassin at them, as much as I hate to admit it, they'd be dead." Aizawa confessed, and Midoriya glanced at the grim look on his teacher's face, before turning back towards the shrieking Ashido whom Sato had picked up and was carrying out of bounds on his shoulder.

"I understand how...Frustrating it must be."

"It is." Midoriya replied, biting his lip. "I have no right to judge them though..."

"You do. But they wouldn't understand, so do try to be nice to them."

"Yeah. Yeah, okay."

Bakugo and Sero were fighting next, and Midoriya couldn't get his eyes off Bakugo as he propelled himself at Sero...Possibly a little too violently, but at least he wasn't playing games. He was serious. Maybe that's why Midoriya felt so comfortable with him, even after so many years and so many changes. Because Bakugo took this seriously. Because their dream of becoming heroes, of becoming a duo, wasn't just based on wanting to be like All Might. They wanted to save and bring justice to the villains, and they would train hard to become the number one duo, and the number one and two heroes.
