Yeah yeah, Valentine's Day blah blah blah and I hate it but ya know... I decided it would be a good idea to do a one shot for it with Derek because he would also hate Valentine's Day so here you go you sappy nerds!
~~~~~
I woke up to smell bacon cooking downstairs.
"Mmm" I hummed as my mouth started to water "smells so good."
I hopped out of bed while grabbing my phone. It shifted on automatically and I read the date
February 14th, 2021
"It's Valentine's Day." I smiled to myself
I walked downstairs with a new found pep and walked to the kitchen where I saw Derek standing shirtless over the stove. I walked up quietly behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist. I placed my palms flat on his chest and smiled as I pressed my cheek into his shoulder blades.
"Good morning." I whispered
"Hey, you seem happy this morning."
"Do you know what day it is today?"
"Uh the 14th?"
"Yeah!"
"What about it?"
"It's Valentine's Day!"
He groaned and flipped the bacon over, making it his loudly.
"Come on Derek! Don't be a brute! You know you enjoy it just as much as me."
"I really don't." He shook his head
"Yes you do. You like the sappy, mushy, soft, cute, cuddly shit and you know it."
"Uh huh. Whatever helps you sleep at night, pup."
He plated the bacon and handed it to me.
"Yum. I could smell it from upstairs my mouth was watering!"
"I'm making eggs too."
"Okay." I said as I took a big bite of bacon
Bacon could own me.
"Okay, I'm your boyfriend here. You're supposed to love me more than the bacon." Derek grumbled as he saw me chew with delight.
"But you don't taste this good." I sloppily said as I pointed to my plate.
"I could." He winked.
"Ew you nasty!" I threw a piece of bacon at him and he moved to catch it in his mouth.
"It is pretty damn good."
I finished my plate quickly and went back up to my room to change. I walked into the closet and found an outfit on a hook already picked out.
I shrugged and put it on
"Derek did you pick this out for me?" I asked as I straightened out the skirt and walked downstairs
"Yeah, I kept thinking about it so I decided to put it together and just leave it in the closet. I wasn't gonna make you wear it but it was just an idea."
"Well it looks great!"
"I think so too."
"Wanna watch a movie?"
"Sure! Pick whatever you want. I'll be back."
Derek walked off and I sat down as I picked a movie
"Be my Valentine, Charlie Brown?"
"It's a classic!" I defended
"Okay okay."
We were just quietly watching the movie when I felt dereks hand rest on my leg
"Do you want to cuddle?" I asked looking up at him
"Sure." He shrugged
I scooted closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder.
He rubbed my arm and kissed me on the forehead.
"I love you." I whispered as I looked up at him
"I love you too." He whispered back
He shuffled his hand behind him and I paid no attention to it. He placed something on my lap and I looked down.
"What's this?" I asked as I saw the little box
"It's a gift." I simply stated "For Valentine's Day."
"What? I thought you hated Valentine's Day."
"I do but you know." He shrugged
I picked up the little box and opened it.
"Derek!" I gasped. Inside the box was a necklace, but not a cliche diamond necklace everyone gets on Valentine's Day. It was a black roped necklace with a heart shaped gem encased in silver wire. "This is beautiful."
"I thought you'd like it. I know it's not a diamond necklace or anything-"
"No! It's perfect. Literally perfect" I smiled
"I'm glad."
I put it on and smiled as I felt the weight around my neck.
"Thank you Derek." I kissed his cheek and snuggled back into him.
A little while later, Lydia picked me up and decided to take me with her shopping while she picked out an outfit for her date with stiles tonight.
"It's so sweet that he's taking you out tonight!"
"Is Derek not doing anything tonight?" I shook my head and looked out the window "Hes not a Valentine's Day guy."
"Has he done anything?"
"Of course! Little things! Like he made breakfast, picked out my outfit, and he got me this."
I showed Lydia the necklace and her eyes glimmered.
"It's beautiful."
"I know right?" I smiled "Hes not the biggest romantic but he tries his best. He does small things, like making breakfast, that shows how much he really cares. I feel like he thinks I don't notice but I do."
Lydia started to tear up.
"That's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard." She squealed
I laughed as we walked into a store.
"Why don't you try something on?" Lydia asked as she picked up a dress
"I don't have the money for that!"
"I'll pay! Just look around! You never know!"
I laughed and decided to look around. I spotted a beautiful black dress in my size.
"I love this." I smiled
"You have to try that." Lydia said as she saw me hold the dress
I giggled as I walked to the fitting rooms
I put it on and immediately felt so good with myself
"I have to have this one." I begged
"Done!" She snapped
I walked back in to change to my normal clothes and walked out to pay.
"Thank you so much for this Lydia, I really appreciate it."
"No problem! And I know Derek will appreciate it too." She winked
"Shut up!" I gasped
"What? You know how Derek is! He's a wolf, it's just instinct."
I blushed at the thought and buried my face in my hands.
"Hey how'd it go?" Derek asked as I walked in.
"Good." I simply replied taking my shoes off.
"What's that?" He asked glancing at the bag
"Lydia bought me something."
"What is it?" He asked curiously
"A dress." I shrugged
"Let me see." I could tell he was curious
I walked upstairs and put it on. I walked back downstairs after fixing my hair and slipping on some red shoes
"See? Just a dress." I smiled
Derek froze and dropped the spoon he was holding.
"Bedroom... now."
