Synopsis:

An Jin who possessed water ability, transmigrated to the interstellar age and became a mermaid being auctioned.

The mermaids of Soo Star are ferocious, but their singing can heal mental riots.

The Soo Star citizens who are suffering from mental riots, dream of raising a mermaid.

Even if the mermaids are violent, has a low IQ and takes a lot of effort to raise and educate.

The Soo Star citizens would love the mermaids in every possible way, all so they can hear the singing voice and not be slapped to death.

His Majesty, Norman, who has been tortured by mental riots for many years, couldn't help it anymore and ordered a mermaid for himself.

The original plan: to feed the mermaid, get a good impression, listen to songs and have his mental riots treated.

Later: Collect all the good things to make my mermaid happy! Baby, what else do you want?

One day, the Imperial Public Channel live broadcast his Majesty's daily life.

An Jin entered the camera and the entire network was paralyzed.

Soon after, His Majesty Norman held the beautiful mermaid boy and announced to the public.

"Formally introduced to you, my partner, An Jin."

An Jin widened his eyes: ? Am I not your mermaid master?

Impressions: My 2nd interstellar mermaid novel! I've moved on from the 60s-90s phase. lol. I like this one better than Sad Life of Being a Mermaid, cos the MC here is more...soft/cute/obedient. lol. Instead of the usual, mermaids-are-breeding-tools setting, here the mermaids are something like a Guide (in Sentinel/Guides settings) where in they can heal mental riots. They're treated as high-maintenance pets, their owners do everything to make them happy cos happy mermaids would sing and they would benefit from hearing the mermaid's songs.

So our MC comes from an apocalypse setting. He's a low-level water ability user. He transmigrates into the only high grade mermaid in the world up for auction. He gets bought by our Emperor ML. Our ML is suffering from mental riots all year round. Mermaids HATE him cos they feel uncomfortable when close to him. He picks our MC when he sees him being quiet and well-behaved. MC accepts his life as a pet cos after experiencing the apocalypse, he just wants to live a peaceful/comfortable life. He is very thankful to ML since he is a very good Master and gives him everything he needs so he tries to please him and be more well-behaved XD XD ML is confused cos he sees our MC being very happy and satisfied but he just won't sing! HAHAHA... Lots of misunderstandings cos of the language barrier. Laters, MC finally knows his 'role' and he's happy to sing for ML to help treat him. Anyone who sees MC is envious of ML cos his mermaid is very close to him, would sing without being coaxed and not act like a little ancestor like other people's mermaids. He also has many talents like being able to purify food, able to speak the interstellar language (he finally learned) etc. etc.

Laters, MC talks to other mermaids (in mermaid language) and learned that the other mermaids think that they are the Masters and the Humans are their pet cause they pay them tribute everyday (food) and would coax and do everything to make them happy. MC knows that mermaids also have their own IQ and thinks they should be recognized as 'intelligent beings' instead of being pets. MC himself wants to have an identity as an individual and not as a pet. ML also agrees cos he sees that MC is really smart and has his own thoughts so they plan to expose MC's cleverness thru the live broadcast. ML also takes the chance the confess to MC (the scene in the synopsis) now that he is sure of his feelings and also before MC attracts lots of admirers when they see how smart he is XD

After MC and ML get together, mermaids from the Mermaid Planet also found MC's location cos when MC became an adult mermaid he received their inheritance(?) and he's now their Mermaid King. He goes back to the Mermaid Planet with the other former pet mermaids. He also solve the Human problems (impurity in food), Mermaid Problems (the Holy Tree), get married to ML, and have babies. (lololol. Sorry lazy). Extras is a side CP of MC's mermaid bestfriend and his (former) Master/owner.

I like this, especially the misunderstandings at the beginning due to the language barrier XD MC cares for ML and plays with him (he thought ML wanted to play) while on ML's side, he thought MC would be happy so he plays with him XD XD XD Anyways, both of them are thinking of making the other party happy so its all very sweet. ML would also feel warm when MC cares for him cos of his experience and what he knows about other mermaids (violent and have to be coaxed), while MC thinks that its only normal cos ML is his 'Master'/owner and he is a very good one at that, taking care of all his needs. After ML learns the truth that MC is actually very smart, he didn't blame MC and thinks that its only right for MC to hide it first/be cautious. 

It wasn't as...fluffy after MC & ML get together cause a lot of things happen and MC has stepped up to be a proper protagonist solving problems for both mankind and merfolks~ MC also accompanies ML to the battlefield to fight, which is good, BUT I wanted more fluff. 

Overall, this is quite nice, might look for more mermaid tropes BL, one where mermaids aren't pets anymore. Nearest reco aside from Sad Life of Being a Mermaid (Also interstellar mermaid but this has a funny MC) is After Marrying a Big Man, I Became the Most Popular Net Star, wherein MC and ML also has a language barrier and MC thinks he's a pet (He's not!).
