Our gong MC is reborn. In the last life, he was a scholar and pursued an official career. In order to get ahead, he became a son-in-law of a powerful minister. Some intrigue and politics, and I guess, MC was used(?) and shou also died because of him (Shou is his book boy, and has accompanied him since he was a scholar) and MC takes revenge for him. Anyways, after rebirth, MC is determined to guard shou in this life and what better way than to be his husband ^^

Shou was originally MC's cousin's fiancee, but he was bitten by a koi and then mutated(?). He suddenly liked to stay in water, then his skin got these lines and scales. Anyways, he became ugly so the cousin cancelled their engagement, and MC proposed to him instead. After marriage, MC is really kind to shou, he knows his needs. He puts him in the tub, make sure he stays hydrated, feeds him fish and shrimps, so shou's beauty gradually recovered. (I guess he stayed 'ugly' in the last life) He also gained the ability to heal quickly, sense the weather and communicate with kois. He is also lucky. So our MC's family is blessed with shou's luck. They escaped some disasters that they encountered in MC's previous life. MC encourages shou to do what he likes so shou does some food business.

Meanwhile, MC concentrates on his studies. He becomes a scholar and then a small official in a coastal town. Of course, he made that town rich and then he was promoted to the next level (lol. I forgot the title) and then another one. And then finally, their family moved to the Capital. MC has a successful official career and shou has a successful business career. Shou gives birth to a little ger then laters, twin girl and boy.

Hmm... I was surprised that author-sama has started to follow the Chinese trope of evil relatives cos her previous works all have good family harmony. Still, those evil relatives are external family (grandma/aunt/uncle/cousins) and MC's and shou's family (Mom/Dad/Bro) are still all good people. There are some court intrigues now since MC is part of the officialdom and some enemies unlike in her previous works that its just a peaceful slice of life. Its still good though cos you know its going to be okay with shou's lucky physique~ And the drama are like this 'mini-arcs' and after they're resolved, we go back to warm family life.
