226. It's Not Easy Being a Master

Synopsis:

Shen Zhixian transmigrated into a book as a cannon fodder master who hatefully severed his disciple's spirit root. This disciple fell into the devil's path and returned to make mincemeat out of him.

Shen Zhixian just happened to transmigrate into the last moment of the master's captivity, and then he was reborn again.

After rebirth, he devoted himself to fostering and supporting his disciple, only to discover later that his disciple was also reborn.

Even worse, the disciple still retained the memory of his life before rebirth.

Afterward, he realized one truth: Being a master is a high-risk occupation. Not trivial at all!

Impressions: Another completely translated one! Resting my brain from MTL~~  This is another master/disciple trope. It's pretty nice, I like the plot twist, but I keep comparing it to Scum Self-Saving Villain, or I've Led the Villain Astray, and  I feel like our ML is somewhat lacking, the drama is not enough. lol.

So MC 'transmigrates' into a novel into the master of the Male Lead. Male Lead  is a talented cultivator but his Master is jealous of him so he destroyed his spiritual roots, MC turns into devil cultivation then comes back to his previous Sect to revenge, torturing his master especially~ Then he finds out THE TRUTH, goes crazy and destroys the world (accdg to the novel).

So... MC didn't want to be tortured so he starts to curry favor from ML, showering him with gifts, apologizing, teaching him swordsmanship, but our ML remains cold :<  It's because ML is Reborn! And he's super wary of his Master. ML actually didn't have a complete memory of his past life, his memories only go so far after his Master destroyed his spiritual root so his hatred for Master MC is always at its peak~~ Finally, he schemes against our MC (who is wholeheartedly trusting him) but also got dragged by MC into it~ Anyways, they survive, forms a 'cannot-harm-each-other contract' and MC sends ML away to go out of the Sect and gain some experience... Then MC sneakily follows him using the original Master's disguise when he leaves the Sect, along with his pseudonym, because accdg to the novel, ML would enter a secret realm and the cure for MC's sickness can be found there.

ML discovers MC because of his pseudonym (It's ML's most important person) then realizes that this is Master MC in disguise cos of their contract. Anyways, they travel together and ML starts wavering and wanting to put down the past life hatred, cos he realizes that his Master and his most important person might be the same person (They are!) Anyways, some Master/Disciple romance development, many many things happen, they solve the villains at the Sect, they find out that ML is a natural-born devil. They recover their 'past life' memories. (Both of them). Solves the problem of the cultivation world (about the devils and monsters invading etc. etc. lives happily ever after. HE.

#SPOILER. The plot twist was MC is actually the original Master. When he went out the Sect in disguise, he met little bun ML but many things happen and they got separated. His body also got taken over by a half-devil, then years later, ML entered the Sect, and by the villain Sect Leader's scheming (yes, their Sect Leader was evil, gaah, annoying git), he became (still-possessed-by-devil) MC's disciple and tortured ML and ML also started hating on MC. This was what caused ML to go crazy in the past life, when he found out that MC has been possessed all this years and he actually killed his benefactor/most important person.

Actually, after ML went crazy in the past life, he tried to revive MC and he got a bit of his soul but it was already so weak, and in the end, they had to send it in a different world. Then ML had to pay a price to rebirth/turn back time. Both MC and ML had fragmented memories at the start, and they only got their complete 'past lives' memories after the seal was lifted.

Like I said, I like the plot twist, pretty predictable, but I like MC getting a little jealous of the original at first, cos he thought that ML might only like him because he was saved by MC when he was still a kid. (lol) MC is pretty straightforward, after ML confessed to him, he was willing to try it with ML, not hiding or being wishy washy about it. On ML side, I feel like there's not enough angst/self-abuse after finding out that you killed your own benefactor (more! more! XD), he was also so cold to MC after being doted on for 3 years and even schemed against him (too ungrateful! Tsk. Not everyone is as easy to coax as Bingmei) So yeah, a bit lacking for me. Also, I feel like the villains are too hateful/annoying/stupid, whether its the Sect Leader or MC's other disciple (who framed ML), their EVIL plan wasn't even that good =_= Once MC acted, they got solved too easily~~

Extras is MC and ML spending Mid-Autumn Festival in the mortal world, then MC & ML as a little kitten and a wolf cub (cute!!!! I keep seeing sunny's fanarts) and about the side CP~~
