Impressions: This is completely translated. I've had this in my TBR for awhile but...I wasn't in the mood for survival games yet. (I went for 60s-90s or farming. Lol). Anyways....
Our MC is a happy-go-lucky student who was suddenly pulled into an Instance. It's a survival game kind of thing (the usual) BUT! here, you don't necessarily have to follow the rules to survive. You can finish the game or you can find the Key-holder/game master/the one who opened the Instance and kill him/get his Key. Those who have Keys have abilities/can open Instances.
Arc 1 - Haunted School (Chapter 1-14) - MC gets transported to a haunted school with 4 others: His junior, a couple from a nearby university and our ML/shou. Game: avoid the teacher-on-duty and escape from the school. #SPOILER Our MC meets ML who is a complete psychopath and gets killed by him. This triggers MCs ability which is Time Reversal. After reset, he avoids his death and finds out that they Key-holder/GM is actually his junior. Kouhai transfers the Key to MC and dies.
Arc 2 - Amusement Park (Chapter 15-32) - MC gets recruited by the organization ML belongs to. They get pulled into a Fairy Tale-themed park Instance. Game: must go through the fairy tales and collect the souvenirs of each story. #SPOILER ML tells MC that he actually wants out from his organization and MC's big bro could help him.
Arc 3 - Choose-Your-Own-Adventure in the Abandoned Hospital (Chapter 33-61) - MC gets pulled into an Instance AGAIN. This is actually a really interesting one. Game: MC & his group becomes livestreamers who went to the abandoned hospital to investigate. There are Protagonist and Extras role, the Protagonist has the right to make the choices in the hospital and the Extras can only obey him. MC & ML's budding feelings start here.
Arc 4 - The Path to Fame and Glory (Chapter 62-92) -MC Big Bro helps ML and they part ways. MC gets taken to Big Bro's secret base. MC sneaks out to follow Big Bro to a dangerous Instance. Game: It's a throw-the-dice-and-move-up-the-board kind of game. MC & ML gets assigned to the same team. ML goes to a killing spree. MC feels heavy guilt for not stopping him. ML discovers his feelings for MC.
Arc 5 - The Black Tower (Chapter 93-115) - Big Bro's rival opens up a massive instance. Game: Enter the Black Tower, MC uses his Time Reversal ability multiple times cos they kept dying (him, ML & Big Bro). Big Bro sacrifices himself to heal MC/upgrade MC's ability. MC defeats the BOSS and learns about the Final Selection
Arc 6 - The Final Selection (Chapter 116-125) - MC learns that the Keys are from alien civilization. Alien guy promises him he can do whatever he wants after he becomes Level VII cos he's basically a god/deity by then. Battle Royale of all remaining Key-holders on Earth. Since there is only one winner, MC takes ML's Key before the Final Selection so he can't join. MC opens his Instance here! Which is kind of awesome, MC's instances is the 18 Layers of Hell~ Anyways, MC becomes the Final Winner and learns that the Final Selection is a hoax. *sigh* And he can't revive those who already died.
Extra - MC & ML living together and finally going all the way, and we finally learn who's the gong and shou between them. Lol.
Hmm.. its okay, not a fave for me though. How to say..it feels incomplete/unfinished. What happened to the aliens after? They wreck the Earthling's peaceful lives and then high tail it out of here? MC obtains the highest power but what's the use? His parents, Big Bro, the temporary 'teammates' he once lamented over are still dead. His romance with ML/shou doesn't really feel like romance (for me) but more like a bond... a 'I-died-for-you-and-you-died-for-me-too' proven bond between them. Shou is definitely inlove with MC though. He gets jealous/insecure/affected by MC but I can't say the same for our straight seme.
The ending feels...unsatisfying for me. And I really didn't like our MC or ML that much. But the Instances/games are pretty interesting in itself. My favorite Instance is the Abandoned Hospital and MC's Instance from the Final Selection. Am gonna look for other completely translated novels to read~
