207. Waiting For You Online

Synopsis:

At the age of 15, He Jin found himself a "husband" in an online game, their love was filled with loving affection and sweetness. However, because his study was being interfered with, his parent cut off the internet, he didn't even have a chance to say goodbye and had to disappear from the game.

8 years later, the online game in the past was about to come out with a revised edition and turned into a virtual reality game. He Jin decided to login again and unexpectedly discovered that his "husband" had become a powerful player and ranked number one in the whole server, moreover, he had not divorced him!

However, the husband that was abandoned by He Jin for eight years, his initial impression of him was that of a pure boy, but now he seemed to somehow have become.......a little evil?

Impressions: I was reading this when it was still being translated by ayyshadow until it was dropped. It was only recently that I picked it up again once it was completely translated.

Quick summary: MC used to play an online game when he was a kid. In the game, he got married to ML, then MC Mom found out that MC was playing games and forbid him to do it. 8 years later, MC is in college and tired with life living under his Mom's thumb. He sees some news about the game he used to play and decides to play again. ML is still playing the game and he's now the #1 player and he still hasn't divorced MC. Then they continue their husband-and-wife relationship in game. ML also finds out MC's identity in real life and chases him both offline and online.  Some drama, they eventually get together. Laters, MC Mom finds out, all hell breaks loose. #spoiler MC breaks up with ML then 3 years later, they get back together. Extras is MC & ML going back to the game together.

WAHAHA... I'm checking my notes. And I was pretty critical of our MC during the entire read. It's been awhile since I encountered a weak MC so his negative traits just somehow keeps being MAGNIFIED to me. Lol.

It was pretty cute at first, with MC trying (in vain) to hide his gender from ML. I actually pity ML for waiting for MC for 8 years, but hey, that's his own choice. No one forced him~~ Their in-game interactions were so cute and fluffy. ML is also a little black bellied to MC, you can see how much he changed from the flashbacks. Our pure little ML has become a black-bellied husband!!!! 

I supposed it started going downhill (for me) when MC started falling for ML in real life. Cos, he's so torn because he likes his husband (ML in the game) and also, his junior (still ML but in real life) and ML just won't slip up!! So MC keeps thinking he's inlove with 2 people, add that to the fact that he just discovered his sexual orientation and MC's crazy mom, our MC is very angsty in life. (so is his POV)

After they get together, MC is too sensitive(?) Especially on money talk cos ML is rich so he's especially sensitive about it, I guess. There was this situation where he doesn't know what to do (Don't wanna be a 'boring' researcher but also don't know what he wants to do) and ML says he'll support him on whatever he decides on and that (jokingly) he can afford it. (Actually, MC can also afford it cos he has 390K but he's doesn't feel SECURE. Go figure.) It was supposed to be sweet, but MC twisted it into ML showing off his rich status again. And won't EXPLAIN TO ML why he's so angry. So ML has no choice but to shut up cos he doesn't know which line set MC off. This happens a couple of times before and the reason why they keep encountering this problem is because MC refused to say so ML would step on this 'landmine' over and over again.

On the 8 years, like I said, I pity ML but its his choice to wait. However its kinda sad that MC has no nostalgic feelings for him or the game whatsoever. He just happened to see the news so he decided to log-in again. If not for that, it would have never have crossed his mind to play again. He's been in Uni (and away from his mom) for years and it never occurred to him to go back in the game cos he FORGOT about our ML. Although, I don't like our MC all that much but I'm not pairing our ML with others. Lol. 

#spoiler Another thing (at this point, I'm just listing out the things I didn't like about our MC. Sorry!) is when ML posted their pictures together and MC asks him to delete it or he'll break up with him. I mean, it took them soooo long to get together and MC can say "break up" so easily. or use it as a threat to ML. ML has no choice but to compromise to him AGAIN. I feel like ML is paying more in this relationship. I mean, its not like it's a lie. They are TOGETHER/COUPLE/BOYFRIENDS etc.  It makes me feel like MC's behavior is very SCUM. MC keeps saying he wants to be Brave but he never takes any action and when ML becomes brave for the both of them, he stops him.

#spoiler Last point, is breaking up via FREAKING LETTER. I was like, OHMYGOD! Can you be brave for once in your life!? At least break up with ML face -to-face. That is the guy who waited and loved you for 8 years!!! He at least deserves that I think (I'm totally on ML's side XD) MC is a coward. I mean, I understand obeying his parents, but not to the extent where you live ALL YOUR LIFE according to their wishes. (Is that even YOUR LIFE any more?)

After that, MC continues being angsty/torturing himself. until his parents realized that Oh! Our son is not happy. (Wow. Congrats) and 'released' him. There was this part, where he tells his blind date that he has 'no choice' but I feel like he did have a choice and he chose his parent's happiness over ML/himself/his own happiness, so it isn't  that he had no choice but that he MADE his choice (so he shouldn't whine about it. Hahaha.. I am so mean to our MC. Sorry MC!) Their reunion is by coincidence, he didn't look for ML (he didn't even look at his news) and it was ML who took the initiative to 'save' him/pursue him again. It was also MC parents who 'let go' of him.

The story is nice, with the online gaming and all, I  just wish they stuck to the fluffiness cos the angst was killing me. XD XD XD I don't mind complex family plot as long as MC has the guts to stand up for himself. But till the end, the initiative was never with our MC. FORTUNATELY, his parents realized he's not happy. FORTUNATELY, it was ML who found him when he was drunk. MC made decisions before like being together with ML or standing up against his parents but he pretty much overturned those decisions and returned to the familiar status quo. (so yep, don't like him. I'm on team ML)

I guess people who like more twists and turns, more drama, more 'complex' characters. (Our MC doesn't know what he wants. He just knows what he DOESN'T want) might like this.  Read this if you're looking for drama and fluff. (although more drama than fluff in the end)  and Virtual Reality Online Gaming, of course, the game mechanics are pretty interesting.
