I suppressed a chuckle. "Detective, who seemed just a friend to me, was family to someone else. The murderer was playing a stealthy game, and one wrong step would prove to be fatal for all of us."

"So what did you do?"

"... We turned the game around."

Gazing at the grand stage before me, I sucked in a deep breath. Francesca walked up to stand beside me.

"Let's have a round of applause for Esqchoir." The host spoke into the mic, followed by a melody of claps from the audience. "Now's time for the last performance of the evening. Everybody, give it up for In Sync Crew!"

The lights dimmed out low and the host walked out, giving us our cue. I blurred out all the thoughts about the conversation I had earlier with Josh. If I needed to come clean, I would, but not the cost of my performance. "You ready?" Francesca asked me.

"Honey," I started, "I was born ready."
