"So you're telling me that Maeve Rosenstein came in contact with a peanut dust-laced cigarette, one that she had taken out from her own drawer?" Detective Richardson asked.
"That's right," I nodded.
"And do you know who might've been involved in switching the cigarettes?"
"At that time, no. She was at the bonfire the night Allison was murdered. Anyone could've switched the packets, and by anyone- I mean the murderer."
"And what about the morning after the allergic reaction? Didn't anyone attack her at the infirmary?"
"It would've been too obvious. Besides, the murderer must've felt it was entertaining enough to watch her suffer for one day."
"Hmm..." he tapped his fingers in a rhythmic tune against the surface of the table. "And what about Theo Hawthorne? Did he accuse you in front of your entire class?"
"He did, very professionally in fact."
"Professionally?"
"You know, being very articulate in pointing out evidence- chronologically, emphasizing on the smallest details, as in a Da Vinci painting, which he wrapped up perfectly in a single phrase: Appearances can be deceptive."
