Y/N POV

Okay, wow... what a hectic period it's been since I moved into the Temple. So, the Gems filled me in on someone they're after named "Peridot". The name doesn't ring a bell, mostly because I don't have a damn clue about any of these other gems, just mainly the fact they exist.

On another note, I've been getting some training from Pearl. Now, I'm not gonna say it's been fantastic... because it definitely hasn't. So, I do have powers, but like.. they don't seem to work? Well, at least at first glance they don't. Maybe a bit more training will awaken something, who knows.

I can summon a dagger though, using my gem. I won't lie, that's pretty cool.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice how late it is. I've been laying on the couch for a bit, that's where I sleep. For a couch, it ain't half bad. I could hear the rain tapping against the windows, for a moment, there was peace.

And then came the thunder. Wasn't expecting a storm tonight, this kinda sucks... I don't like thunder. Well, let me rephrase that, thunder makes me uneasy. I couldn't tell you why, I've just felt that way ever since I was really young.

Sometimes I wish I could control the thunder, make it my own. Something apart of me, perhaps that would make me no longer fear it. When I say it out loud, it sounds kind of crazy, doesn't it?

Until that ludicrous happens, the thunder takes another victory over me. All I can do is just sit there, my heart pumping a bit, my face sweating, my hands shaking.

"It's really something tonight." Steven said to himself. He glanced over at me, I'm not sure how I looked right now. "You okay, Y/n?"

His voice startled me slightly, wasn't expecting him to be awake right now. I turn and nod my head a little. "Just peachy..."

He gets out of bed, strolling down the stairs to the couch where I'm currently sitting. Taking a seat next to me, he just kind of stared at me. "Is the storm bothering you?" He asked. "I know I used to be scared of them."

"A little. I'm not a fan of the thunder, it makes me feel a bit uneasy." I replied, honestly. He scooted over to me, wrapping an arm around me. I like to think of myself as somewhat tough, but this is one of the few things that just makes me feel so vulnerable.

"Better?" He asked. I nodded my head, the comfort of his touch was nice, made me feel a bit at peace.

"Yeah, much better.." I mumbled, closing my eyes. And before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.

*Morning Rises*

Steven POV

I woke up feeling quite good, the sun shined brightly today. That's the nice thing about a storm, there's always a warm, bright light waiting for you at the end of it all.

Not much on the agenda, though I figured I'd invite Connie to hangout. Afterall, she has yet to formally meet Y/n, and I think it would be awesome for them to see each other in person.

We toured Beach City a bit, I mainly showed him around the boardwalk. Stopping in front of the arcade, Y/n stared at the sign.

"Huh, an arcade? What's it like in there?" He asked. "I've never been inside one before."

"You've never been inside an arcade before? Okay, um.. there's like a bunch of different games inside and you can play them to hopefully win tickets to get prizes." I replied. "Would you like to go inside?"

"Sure, why not. Sounds like fun." He said. Entering the arcade, we spotted a few games that caught his eye. We were there for a good 20 minutes or so, just playing some competitive games.

Which he proceeded to destroy me in, like it's not even funny. Every. Single. Game.

We soon exited the arcade, getting some fresh air. "Are you just like a natural or something? For a guy who's never been inside an arcade, you stomped me." I asked, giggling.

Y/n chuckled, getting a kick out of it. "I only said I've never been inside an arcade; doesn't mean I don't know my way around a video game."

I laughed, he's funny sometimes. It's nice being around him, obviously there's Connie, who's my friend; but having someone else who I get to hang around with a little more often is kind of nice.

"I had fun, like, a lot of it. I appreciate you showing me around, Beach City is a pretty cool place!" He said, flashing me a smile. For the very first time, I felt my cheeks burn, a shade of red coated my face.

"Ah, Steven! There you are!" A voice yelled. Turning around, I see none other than Connie, walking down towards us. "Connie! I'm so glad you could make it!" I yelled back.

As she approached, I gave her a hug. Gem stuff has me busy, so it's been a bit since I've seen her.

"Connie, I want you to meet Y/n. He's living with us now, and he's really cool!" I explained. "So, you're Y/n? It's nice to meet you! I'm Connie, Steven's told me a bit about you." She spoke, introducing herself.

"Likewise, nice to meet you, Connie. We just got done touring the boardwalk. Steven's been showing me all around Beach City, and I gotta say, it's a pretty nice place." Y/n replied.

"Awesome! Now that you've both met, we can finally hang out as the 3 of us!" I cheered, planning to have a day full of excitement.

And just like that, we've begun our trio. Man, I wonder what lies ahead for the 3 of us in the future.
