Chapter Sixty-Three - Edward's Request

*Genevieve*

As soon as I entered back into the house from hunting, Edward leaped up from his spot on the couch, throwing down his book and racing over to me.

"We need to talk," he mutters, sending me an imploring look.

I open my mouth to say something snarky back before quickly being cut off by Edward, whose's eyes narrowed as he shook his head, showing how serious he was. Grabbing my arm, he starts to drag me up the stairs and into the office, slamming the door shut before turning around and sighing.

"I need a favor."

Standing opposite Edward in Carlisle's office, I raise my eyebrow at the strange request he made.

"So, you want me to go to Canada and find some dead newborn's friend, who I have never met before, and do... what exactly?"

"Just- I don't really know... I didn't think that much into the future... I don't even know if you'll be able to find him. But the newborn- Bree- apparently they were friends and he split before the attack and went to Canada... one of the last things she thought of before she died was of him..." Edward explained, sighing as he leaned into the desk, his brows furrowed in confusion as he too tried to understand.

"And why do I have to find him? Hm?" I ask irritably, crossing my arms as I stare at him.

"Look, for one reason or another he and Bree were close... he was the only one of their group to survive," Edward continued, "I just think that it would be... nice of us to make sure that he's..."

"Alive. You want me to see if he's alive?"

Edward nods his head as he turns the computer towards me, a map of Vancouver already pulled up on the screen.

"Alice said that he was staying in the Vancouver area for a few more days... after that, she can't tell. He keeps changing his mind on where to go and what to do,"  he says, "Look, I get it if you don't want to do it for me... but at the very least do it for Bree. This Fred guy deserves to know."

I bite my lip as I look at him, his eyes meeting mine. He was all but begging me on his hands and knees to find his 'Fred' that Bree had talked about before her death.

"You do realize, right, that this is yet another one of your messes that you're asking me to help clean up," I hiss.

"Not clean up, per se... just tie up any loose ends... if this 'Fred' is still alive then we can honor Bree's last wishes, and if not, then we'd have done all that we could," Edward explained, shrugging his shoulder as he looked over at me with hopeful eyes.

"Please? You know that I wouldn't ask for anything from you-"

"Yeah, out of fear of your ass getting beat again by Theo... you do know that he's still pissed at you for the whole Volturi/Aro situation... so really, if this backfires, then you really only have to worry about Theo," I confess, smirking over at him with a mischievous glint in my eye.

Edward paused, his eyes widening as his hand automatically raised to the back of his neck, the memory of Theo's last big blow up still fresh in his mind. "I- I'll deal with Theodore.."

I scoffed and rolled my eyes, "wow... your confidence is making me shake in fear... you know, I think I'll get Rosie and I first-row tickets to watch him beat your ass- again!"

Edward rolled his eyes at me and sighed, "will you do it or not, Genvieve?"

"Fine! But you're gonna be the one to tell Theo that he can't come," I spit out.

Edward pauses before nodding his head, "fine... thank you."

I wave him off, sending him a teasing smirk. "Oh compared to you, I've got the easy part. You on the other hand are gonna need all the luck you can get."

I quickly turn on my heels and walk out of the room, grabbing a backpack and shoving some extra clothes, and a phone charger inside before heading down to the garage to grab some cash from the safe that we had placed inside one of the cabinets.

"Where are you going?" Rose asks, putting down her wrench and standing up from underneath the car she was working on. Her eyes were wide with confusion as she turns down her music, watching as I continued to throw cash and ID into the bag.

"I'm doing Eddie a favor," I say simply, zipping the backpack shut and quickly kissing her cheek.

"Haven't we done him enough favors?" Rose muttered, shaking her head as she start to roll back under the car.

I chuckled and blew her one last kiss before starting out of the room, "I'll see you soon Rosie."

A few hours into the trip, I had successfully passed through the border, which, wasn't really all the interesting. Sighing, I looked around at the other cars that were surrounding me, all going into Canada for one reason or another. It was times like this that I wished to have Eddie's powers... there were a few cars that seemed rather interesting to watch. There was a family, whose parent's looked to be about at their wit's end with their three young kids, and there was also a couple who seemed to be so deeply entranced in their conversation that they completely ignored the border agents when they had knocked on their window for the first time.

"You so owe me for this Edward," I mutter, rubbing my head as I start to drive towards Vancouver, glancing at the map that was next to me everyone once in a while.

For the 9th time since I had started to drive, my phone began to ring. Sighing, I reach over and pick it up, quickly answering it as I continue to drive down the surprisingly empty-looking road.

"GENEVIEVE FOIX! WHY THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN IGNORING MY CALLS!" Theo roars. I wince at the sudden sound, pulling the phone away from my ear for a second, allowing him to continue his screaming without having to destroy my eardrums. "DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I'VE BEEN! EDWARD SAYS THAT YOU'RE IN CANADA?! WHAT THE HELL?"

"Theo, take a breath," I say, turning on my blinker as I continue to race across the roads. "Edward needed me to do him a little favor... I'll be back before you know it."

"Why the hell couldn't I come? Hm?"

"You're gonna have to talk to Edward about that," I sigh as I look down at the map again, muttering a few curses under my breath as I do a U-turn, having missed the turn that I was supposed to take.

"Well, Edward's a little... indisposed at the moment," Theo says casually, "so he can't exactly give me the answers that I need..."

"What did you do to poor Eddie?"

"Oh don't worry about it," he says, quickly changing the topic to anything else as I continued to drive down the road, zooming past the lush green forests that surrounded the road.
