Chapter Eighty - Hunting

*Genevieve*

The sound of the door closing made me look away from whatever Carlisle was saying.

"Go," he said, urging me to get Jacob. "We'll need him on board if we want it to work."

I nodded and walked out of the room, stopping Jacob on the stairs. I watched for a brief moment as he watched Edward and Bella chuckle away, happy in their little bubble for once. A look of disbelief, and jealousy appearing across his face.

"Jacob," I called out, causing him to snap his head towards me. "Carlisle needs to talk to you."

Placing the blood bag on the table, we all looked at it.

"So that's the last of it?" he asked, looking up at Carlise and I.

"Bella could deliver as early as tomorrow," I explain.

"If she's going to have any chance at all, she'll need more blood," Carlisle finished, crossing his arms as he looked at Jacob.

"Ad you need to feed," Esme said, looking up at Carlisle with determination. "You have to be at your strongest for her. We need to do tonight."

Jacob shook his head slightly as he looks from Esme to Carlisle. "Carlisle, you're the enemy now. Sam won't hesitate. You will be slaughtered."

"Emmett will come with us," Esme countered, her eyes watching Jacob as he turned around and looked out the window.

"As will Theo," I say, backing Esme up.

"That should be enough," he says, turning around to look at her.

"We have no choice, Jacob. If there's anything we can do to save her, we have to try," Carlisle says calmly.

"You'd risk your lives for her?" He asked, not believing it.

"Of course we would," Esme said immediately, "Bella's apart of our family now."

"Yeah," he says, a slightly bitter tone to his words. "I can see that. This really is a family. As strong as the one I was born into." He pauses as he looks out the window for a moment before looking back at the three of us. "I know what I have to do."

He tells the plan, keeping his voice low as he does so. Not wanting it to carry outside to the waiting wolves. We all nod our heads in agreement and split up, preparing for the race to the other side of the river to hunt.

After a few minutes of mindless wandering, I make my way into my room, smiling as I see Theo keeping busy by watering and talking about the countless plants he put in our room.

"You, Carlisle, Esme, and Emmett are leaving tonight," I say softly to him. I bite my cheek as I watched as he puts down the can and turns to look at me, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Huh?"

"You, Carlisle, Esme, and Emmett are leaving tonight," I repeat, "to go hunting."

He immediately shakes his head looking at me like I was crazy. "No way! I'm not leaving you. Not if there are a bunch of crazy wolves waiting outside the house to kill us. No way, Gen!"

"Carlisle needs to go out to hunt, he needs to be at his strongest to help Bella. You and Emmett are going to make sure that nothing goes wrong, not that it will," I say, looking up at him.

"What about you? Don't you need to help?" He asks, intertwining our hands as he steps closer to me.

"I'm staying to watch Bella, in case something happens. Not that it will though," I say, looking at him. "She should still have some more time before the baby comes, but Carlisle and I decided that it would be best for someone to be here. While I am... trained and able to birth a baby, Carlisle is the one that actually knows exactly what to do- it also does help that he has an actual degree."

We both fall silent for a second before I let out a little chuckle. "Besides, we still have Jasper and Edward... those two wouldn't let anything happen to Alice or Bella..."

He lets out a little chuckle before sighing as he continues to look at me, biting his lip as he thinks it over.

"Fine!" He exclaims, breaking after a few minutes. "I'll go!"

I giggle as I lean into him, connecting our lips in a heated kiss. Pulling away a few minutes later, I lean into his chest and look up at him, a thankful smile appearing across my face. "Thank you."

"For you, my dear, I would do anything," he whispered back to me.
