It was all the same. Nothing. Always nothing. You were alone. And lost. Where were you going? What was the point? It was all the same. Nothing. Always nothing. You were alone. And lost. Where were you going? What was the point? It was all the same. Nothing. Always nothing. You were alone. And lost. Where were you going? What was the point?

And then a warm hand reaching out to you. 'Come with me,' it said.

So you took it. And everything changed.

'Meliodas?'

'Hm?'

'Do you ever feel like the voice in your head is too loud?'

'Sometimes. Do you feel like that?'

'Yeah. And I'm so tired but it just won't shut up.'

'I could tell you a story if you'd like.'

'Wait really? Have you told me a story before? I can't remember.'

'That doesn't matter right now. Do you want me to?'

'Yes. Please.'

'Okay. Once upon a time, there was a Lonely Prince.'

'This sounds like a sad story. Is it a sad story?'

'Don't interrupt.'

'Ha. Sorry.'

'As I was saying, once upon a time, there was a Lonely Prince. He lived in a castle with his father and brothers. The whole kingdom admired him because he was very powerful. They loved him for that power. But the Prince knew they didn't love him for him. No one knew he was, not even himself. The Lonely Prince kept fighting because everyone expected him to, but he didn't know what he was fighting for.

'So, one day, he ran away from the castle. He wanted to find a meaning. He searched all the lands – high and low, near and far – but the Lonely Prince just got more and more lost. Until, quite by chance, he met a Princess.'

'Was she pretty?'

'She was the most beautiful person the Prince had ever seen. But she was lonely too. Just like the Prince, the Lonely Princess had run away from home and had gotten lost. The Lonely Prince didn't know that at the time, though, so he asked her for help.

'"Please," he said. "I'm lost and can't find my way."

'The Lonely Princess smiled and held out a hand. "Come with me," she said. "We'll go together."

'So the Prince and the Princess travelled the lands, not lonely anymore because they had found each other.'

'... I like that story.'

'Me too. Hey, are you crying? I'm sorry.'

'No, no, I'm okay. I'm glad they had a happy ending.'

'That's not the end.'

'Huh? But ... you stopped.'

'That's just how their story began. They had many adventures together. And before you ask, no I won't tell you them tonight. Don't look at me like that. I can feel you yawning, you know.'

'Will you ever tell me?'

'One day. Now go to sleep.'

'Can you tell me one last thing?'

'What?'

'Do they have a happy ending?'

'... I'll make sure of it.'

'Promise?'

'I promise.'

Meliodas woke up before everyone. He got up, untangling himself from [Y/n]'s arms carefully and put on a fresh shirt. [Y/n] still hadn't moved so he made his way downstairs to get breakfast ready. No one was awake to stop him. By the time they were, it would be too late.
