Never would’ve Chan thought the ride home would be filled by nothing but utter chaos.

Vernon, who sat beside him, kept on singing ballads with Seungcheol who drove. Joshua and Jeonghan were all over each other throughout the whole ride and Seungkwan had a heated debate with Jun about what came first. Was it the chicken or the egg? To him, it was more than clear the chicken did.

At least Minghao, who sat on his other side, didn't yell nor did he attack someone once he saw his point wasn’t getting across. He was instead, peacefully listening to music and didn’t really bother wasting his energy talking to the others.

Chan didn’t want to suddenly interrupt his moment, but his screen's wallpaper was enough to catch his eye.

“Did you used to live in China?” He asked out of the blue, startling the older who jumped on his spot.

He quickly pulled an earphone out and smiled. “Yeah, me and Jun did”

   “Wow, that’s really cool”

   “It really is”

To keep the conversation going, he smiled warmly at the other and cleared his throat. “I’ve heard about quite a few yokai found there but have never really met one, or any at all. That is, until I met you guys of course”

“You used to live in South Korea, right?”

"Yeah," He scratched his neck. "To be honest I can't help but miss it"

"Same" Minghao said with a sigh. "It's been a while since I've been to China. I should contact Jun's family to see if they'll let us visit them sometime or something"

"What about your family?" He smiled. "I'm sure they'll be more than happy to see you again!"

However, as soon as he said this Minghao's mood turned gloomy.

"They're..dead.." He said as he looked down. This caused Chan to panic.

(Of course, it had to be me and my big mouth!)

"S-so," He quickly changed the topic. "I've been wondering for a while now but, if you don't mind telling me, what kind of yokai are you?"

He hesitated. "I can tell you, but you'll most likely end up scared"

"I was chased by a gashadokuro, recently found out my two new friends and my teacher were a yokai, and not only that but I was also chased by an exorcist called Mingyu who's friend wanted to kill mine" He looked at him with nonchalant eyes. "I'm sure that by now I won't be that surprised with whatever you all suddenly throw at me"

Minghao chuckled. "Suit yourself" He said before he took a deep breath. "Well, I'm a shui gui"

  "A shui gui?"

"A water ghost, the spirit of someone who..drowned." Chan's eyes widened. "I used to live at the bottom of the lake before Jun found me and became my friend"

"I'm sorry you had to go through that.."

He chuckled. "It's been 200 years since then so you don't have to be sorry"

"But, you said you used to be a spirit, how are you standing right before me with flesh and bones?"

"The shui gui are known for pulling people down to the bottom of the lake and taking over their body. I, for starters, didn't do that so you can stop looking at me that way"

   Chan looked away sheepishly.

"Jun helped me get my body back, and since then I've been working hard to take care of it"

"I see" Chan smiled. "You two seem to be good friends"

"We are" He beamed. But suddenly, his expression turned pained and cold. "I just wish I could've always been"

At this, Chan frowned. But before he could even open his mouth again and ask another question, the van stopped and Seungcheol turned towards them with a timid expression.

"We'll be taking a bathroom break. Jeonghan, take care of the kids while I'm gone, ok?"

   "K"

As he watched the oldest of them all get out of the car and hurry towards the gas station, Chan couldn't help but sigh. He turned to his side to continue talking to Minghao when he noticed everyone in the van had already got out.

One again, he couldn't help but sigh.

However, the good thing was that this meant it was finally a time he could get that peace and quiet he badly needed. Although, he did begin to get worried when he saw Seungkwan chase Jeonghan with a fork.

(Oh well) He thought and turned a blind eye to it. He knew either Joshua or Vernon would try to calm down the situation.

As he let his thoughts flow to the surface, a few questions went along with them as well. And as they began to flood his head, he started to feel his eyes grow heavy and his body relax.

Soon enough, he had fallen sound asleep.
