The Cat and the Fox

(A 100 years ago)

"Jisoo! Wait for me!" The fox like creature said as he claimed up the stairs that led to the shrine. He watched as the cat giggled and turned to look at him.

"You're so slow Angel!"

The Kitsune stuck his tongue out in a playful manner and ran up to the cat, only to jump on him.

"Wait no-!" The both of them fell down to the floor, and tumbled down the stairs. However, thanks to the power the Kitsune holds, they both landed safely onto the ground.

Jisoo sat up. "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!"

"I thought it would be fun~"

Jisoo huffed and looked at the other in annoyance. "You do know we'll have to climb up there again?!" He whined. "I don't want to hear you nagging because of this!"

"I'm sorry Soo-ya~" Jeonghan softly smiled as he watched the other pout. He cooed. "Are you mad?"

"No" Jisoo looked away.

"Jisoo~" He smiled widely and got closer to the other. "Would a kiss make it better?"

"No"

"Are you sure~?"

"Yes"

"Really sure~?"

"Yes"

"Really, really sure-"

"Ugh fine!" The cat said as he turned to look at the older. The Kitsune smiled got closer to the latter only to place his lips on the cat, creating a soft kiss. Soon enough, however, Jisoo could feel the other deepen the kiss and grab him by the waist.

"Angel" Jisoo said trying to pull away with a breathy voice. "We still need to climb up~" He said, as he felt the fox nibble on his bottom lip.

"I want to stay here tho~"

Jisoo could feel a vein twitch. He pulled the other away and crossed his arms.

"Angel" The one called pouted. "It's getting late and I don't want to spend the night out here"

"Why~? It will be fun~" Jisoo just rolled his eyes and stood up. An idea crossed trough his head and smiled mischievously, watching the older raise an eyebrow in confusion.

"If we don't climb up before dark" Jisoo's lips formed a w and his eyes formed an upside down u. "I'll destroy your precious jewels~"

The Kitsune opened his eyes wide. "You wouldn't dare"

Jisoo turned around. "Watch me~" And ran up the stairs.

"Ya!" The older said as he stood up and ran after the cat. However, he couldn't help but laugh as he did so.

You see, the Kitsune had met Jisoo 100 years ago, long enough for the both of them to be able to get to know one another and eventually become close. Long enough for the other to give a name that only they would know eachother by. However, as time passed by, the Kitsune couldn't help but fall for the charms of the cat, deepening their bond even more after he found out the other felt the same. And as weird as it may seem, for a Bakeneko and a Kitsune to hold such relationship, the both of them didn't care. They just loved eachother too much to do so. Too much to make a promise that they didn't plan to break. That is, until a problem showed up.

It was a fine day and the Bakeneko was lazing around in the forest, far away from the shrine him and the fox lived in. But the calm and relaxing sounds of nature were soon interrupted by the panicked screams of his lover.

"JISOO!" The fox screamed while running. "WERE ARE YOU?"

"Angel?" He asked as he sat up. "What's up?" Jisoo watched the fox crouch down to catch his breath. After a few seconds, he looked at Jisoo and held his face with both of his hands, inspecting it to make sure his appearance had changed.

"Are you ok?! Did anything happen to you while I was gone?!"

"What are you talking about Angel?" Jisoo softly removed the other's hands from his face and watched the fox sigh in relief.

"Someone found a Bakeneko in the village" He said as he looked down. "The townsfolk got scared and are now looking for him causing many of his type to be killed in the process. In fact, they're heading over this direction right now" The Kitsune looked at Jisoo and brushed his thumb over his cheek. "You're not safe here"

Jisoo frowned. "What are you implying..?"

"You need to go, Jisoo" He said. "Or they'll kill you"

Jisoo held his hands. "I can't leave you here!" He could feel tears form by his eyes. "What if they find you?! Tell me, what will happen to you?!"

"Don't worry about me" The fox tried his best to smile, to calm the other down, but his sadness soon overtook his expression, creating small water droplets in his eyes.

"No! I can't leave you!" Jisoo held the shirt of the other. He could feel the tears damp the clothes of the fox, but he didn't care. He didn't want to leave him. "I love you so, so much..." He said, almost a whisper.

"I love you too" The Kitsune pull Jisoo tightly to him, soon holding the chin of the cat to share a kiss. After a couple of minutes, they pulled away.

"You need to leave" The Kitsune stood up.

"Can't you come with me?"

"I.." He hesitated. "Have something to do" He looked at Jisoo and held his hand. "But I promise you something" He looked at his eye. "I'll still be here when you come back. I'll be waiting for you to finish what we started. To end the promise we made when we both fell in love" He brushed the others tears away.

With a swift pull, Jisoo was suddenly on his feet, pushed away from the Kitsune. He turned around and saw the other slowly drift farther and farther away from him.

"I love you"
