Chapter 25

After the dinner, Li Mo and Ji Qin took a taxi back to the villa. Zhou Shuo, the only one who did not drink, was responsible for sending Song Yan, Xia Lin, and Xia Liang home.

Seeing that there were no other people in the car, Song Yan said to Xia Liang in the passenger seat, "Brother Liang, you and Zhou Shuo should move out."

Xia Liang looked back at Song Yan in surprise, "Why?" 

"It's not that I don't respect the old and love the young, it's really... it hurts to live with the elderly."

Xia Lin secretly gave nudged his elbow, "You are talking nonsense." 

Xia Liang asked, "What's going on?"

Xia Lin wanted to stop Song Yan from speaking more but Song Yan seemed to be a little drunk and couldn't stop his mouth. 

"Xia Lin and I went to the Netherlands for our honeymoon. Dad and Grandma followed along and stuck to us 24 hours a day. Even if we stayed in a hotel, they were in the next room. The soundproofing of the hotel is very poor. Xia Lin was afraid that his grandma will hear us. I was not allowed to touch him. I went to spend more than half a month on my honeymoon like an ascetic monk!"

Xia Lin couldn't laugh or cry after hearing this. 

"You can't stand it for half a month? How did you live for so many years before? Did you often go hunting for fresh meat?"

"No no," Song Yan quickly shook his head and denied, "I'm a picky person, it's not that I'm not used to eating..."

Xia Liang saw them flirting and couldn't help but look at them with ridicule.

Song Yan grinned and said, "Brother Liang, a show of affection must be shown to a single dog to be considered a show. Do we have single dogs here?"

Xia Lin elbowed Song Yan's chest and the pain immediately silenced him.

However, Xia Liang had already figured out the meaning of Song Yan asking him to move out. He couldn't help but subconsciously glance at Zhou Shuo in the driver's seat. Zhou Shuo also happened to look at him. The two of them made eye contact with each other and they both avoided it unnaturally.

There was an awkward silence in the car.

Xia Lin originally wanted to ask his elder brother about how far the two had developed but because Song Yan was tactless after drinking, he decided not to. He thought about it for a moment and simply followed Song Yan's topic. 

"Brother, I actually want to ask, you and Zhou Shuo...what are you going to do now? Although Song Yan is just talking nonsense, it is not unreasonable to think about it carefully. Song Yan and I hosted the wedding banquet in a fair manner. There are still many scruples in front of the elderly. Not to mention you and Zhou Shuo are living with Dad and Grandma under the same roof. You can't hide it."

Xia Liang remembered the tragic situation when even ice-cold water cannot help Zhou Shuo. He had to admit that Xia Lin made a lot of sense.

Xia Lin paused. Seeing Xia Liang not talking, he asked, "Brother, are you going to stay close at home?"

Xia Liang immediately denied, "I'm not gay, what closet am I out of!" 

He realized that this was a bit hurtful and continued in a calm tone, "Not to mention your previous coming out, Dad and grandma can't accept it easily. We also have to be considerate of the elderly. We can't just add obstacles over and over again just because they have compromised once."

After hearing this, Xia Lin felt a little guilty and felt that Xia Liang's burden was too heavy.

"Then do you plan to hide it from them for the rest of your life?

"It may not be a lifetime thing," Xia Liang said in a calm tone. "I asked Du Lanze. He said that they are currently developing long-term effective pheromone inhibitors. If we are lucky, they can develop the first batch of experimental drugs  within a few years."

Xia Lin was stunned, "You mean, you want to be their experiment?" 

"Mutual benefit is nothing more than mutual benefit." Xia Liang said, "They give me medicine and I will be the object of observation for them."

"No!" Xia Lin said with a tough attitude, "Brother, don't joke about your body, do you understand?!"

Even Zhou Shuo, who was driving on the side, couldn't help turning his head and glanced at Xia Liang incredulously.

Xia Liang laughed self-deprecatingly, "Since the gene mapping occurred, I have gradually looked down on a lot of things. The worst in life is death. Instead of being manipulated by this inexplicable pheromone for a lifetime, I would rather take the risk."

Zhou Shuo slammed the brakes and turned to look at Xia Liang. The expression on his face was both shocked and angry.

"Brother Liang, you just hate it..." 

He paused for the second half of the sentence and did not continue.

Xia Liang was silent for a moment then said, "I'm not right to people, don't get me wrong."

A few years ago, Xia Lin watched Zhou Shu's feelings for Xia Liang. He was afraid that Zhou Shuo would get emotionally out of control so he hurriedly interjected.

"This matter is still a long-term plan. I think your top priority is to find a reason to move out from the family house."

Xia Liang turned his face to look at the deep night outside the window and sighed, "What reason will we give them? The elders in the family are not fools."

"I have a way." Song Yan is suddenly woken up from the sudden brake just now and his mind is clear. 

"As I mentioned earlier, I am serious about investing in films. We won't only invest in filming but I also plan to build an Exclusive film and television base. Now that this plan has passed the company's internal review, we will select a location in City D. If Brother Liang is interested in joining, I can give this project to your Xia family to lead. Brother Liang and Zhou Shuo will be able to temporarily move to City D in the name of work."

After he said this, the three of them all looked at Xia Liang and waited for him to express his opinion. 

Xia Liang thought for a long time, sighed, and compromised, "This is the only way."

The car arrived at the place where Song Yan and Xia Lin lived. 

Xia Lin was about to get out of the car when Xia Liang suddenly stopped him and asked, "How did you and Du Lanze... first met?"

Xia Lin did not expect that Xia Liang would suddenly ask about this so he lied.

"I accidentally discovered that Du Lanze's identity seemed a bit special. Du Lanze is a relatively familiar person and we become friends who come and go."

Xia Liang squinted his eyes and know instinctively that Xia Lin didn't tell him the truth.

Xia Liang wanted to ask a few more questions but after another thought, he decided not to. As Du Lanze said, this matter involved Xia Lin's privacy. He mumbled some words in his mouth and swallowed them back.

"Okay, you go back and rest early."
