In the city at night Knuckles was sitting on an old paint can and he saw a newspaper article about how Sonic stopped Eggman then he remembered his time guarding the Master Emerald.
Memory Knuckles: Looks like another peaceful day.
He saw a blue light.
Memory Knuckles: What was that?
He saw Y/n climbing up the steps that lead towards the Master Emerald.
Memory Knuckles: Hey, state your name and business!
Memory Y/n: I don't feel like telling you either. Now step aside and let me take the Master Emerald.
Memory Knuckles: I don't think so!
He tried to punch Y/n but Y/n blocked it with his shield and punched Knuckles in the gut.
Memory Knuckles: Gah!
He feel down in pain.
Memory Y/n: Too easy.
He touched the Emerald but his face became more disappointed.
Memory Y/n: It doesn't have the power I need!
He punched the ground a few times before Knuckles went up to him.
Memory Knuckles: Hey, stop doing that!
Memory Y/n: Keep your Emerald.
He started to walk away.
Memory Knuckles: Hey, wait!
Memory Y/n: I know, you want to get back at me for that punch.
Memory Knuckles: No, I just want to know why you needed the Master Emerald.
Memory Y/n: I was going to use it to restore my honor, but I don't think you can generate enough power for that.
Memory Knuckles: Well, I don't know about helping you with your honor, but if you ever need an ear I'll be here for you.
Knuckles extended his hand.
Memory Knuckles: I'm Knuckles by the way.
Y/n smiled.
Memory Y/n: Y/n. Friends?
They shook hands.
Memory Knuckles: Friends.
Back to reality.
From out of the shadows Eggman walked to Knuckles.
Knuckles: What do you want, Eggman?
Eggman bowed down to Knuckles.
Eggman: Please help me, Knuckles.
He grabbed Knuckles hands.
Eggman: If we don't do something fast, Sonic could make us prisoners on this plant forever, and that Y/n fellow threatened me with a blade it two times.
Knuckles: Yeah, that sounds like something he would do.
Eggman: If we can gather all seven of the Chaos Emeralds, there's a fighting chance we can somehow reverse the effect that sent us to this world and return to where we came from. Sonic knew he could use the Chaos Emeralds to warp himself through time and space. That's the reason he attacked Chaos Control. He found out that I'd collected all the Chaos Emeralds to keep them out of his grasp! You know how reckless Sonic is. I was afraid of what he might do if he got a hold of the Emeralds. So I set up defenses, but there was no stopping Sonic. He was determined to push his selfish search for thrills all the way this time, no matter who got hurt. Finally, Sonic invaded Chaos Control, and to my horror, he finally achieved his goal. Sonic destroyed Chaos Control and sent us all here just for the fun of it!
