Chapter 22

2 weeks later

A'mari pov

It's the weekend and I'm getting ready to go see my granny. I put my shoes on taking my bonnet off doing my edges. I got my hair done yesterday after school. I put my phone in my pocket seating on the bed waiting

20 minutes later

Jazz. Come on

I got up following her downstairs. Kentrell came downstairs. I Flinched when he walked past me. It wasn't on purpose. We went outside getting in the car. The baby is with sheronda. Kentrell got in the car and started it up driving to my granny house.

Kentrell. Go in there with her

I got out and jazz went with me. I knocked on my granny door.

Granny. Who is it?

Me. A'mari

The door opened and my granny smiled at me letting us in. She hugged me kissing my lips.

Granny. I'm making your favorite food

I smiled

Granny. King is here

That's my dog, well my auntie dog now. My dad gave my dog to her so she would feel safe in her house. But I still was able to see my dog

Me. King!

I heard barking.

Granny. Upstairs

I went upstairs in my auntie room seeing him standing at the door. He jumped on me barking. I picked him up bringing him downstairs. I sat on the couch and king licked my face and I smiled.

Auntie. Tt baby!

She ran to me picking me up kissing my lips.

Auntie. Who's this?

Jazz. I'm jazz

Auntie nodded before looking at me

Auntie. It's almost your birthday, what you want?

I shrugged. I want my parents back for my birthday. That's really all I want. She put me down and I played with my dog. I looked up seeing my Auntie looking at me

Auntie. Have you been eating?

I nodded

Auntie. Why can I see your ribs? And why is your arms so skinny?

I shrugged

King. Ruff

I looked back down at the dog rubbing his head. He laid on my lap

Granny. Come eat

I went in the dinning  room seating on a chair. King followed me

This is king

I ate my food drinking my juice. I looked down seeing king looking at me. I finished eating and threw my trash away. Granny pulled me in the kitchen and whispered in my ear

Granny. Is someone touching on you?

I shook my head

Granny. Is anyone beating on you?

I shook my head she nodded. She hugged me tight kissing my nose.

Granny. I miss you coming to see me. Your the biggest memory of your dad

A tear rolled down my face. She kissed my lips wiping my face

Granny. Are you coming to see me on your birthday?

I shrugged

Granny. Why can't you come see us?

I shrugged. Granny picked me up and I laid on her sholder

Granny. Aye?

Jazz looked over here

Granny. Bring her back September 2nd in the afternoon

Jazz nodded aunty got me from granny. I wish I can stay here.king started whimpering

Auntie. King stop being jealous.

He barked before getting on the couch next to us. Auntie kissed my lips and king licked my face

Auntie. Aww king you sweet

I pet kings head. He closed his eyes.

Granny. A'mari do you know the password to your dad's phone?

Me. Yea it's 090212

She nodded going back in the dining room. I know his password cuz I was always on his phone. And he use my birthday or the year I was born for passwords. I was born In 2012.

Auntie. How you doing in school?

Me. Good

She nodded I looked down at the dog he looked at me and then looked around.

30 minutes later

I hugged and kissed my auntie and granny. I wanna cry we went outside and got in the car with kentrell. They talked the whole way to the house. I went to my room closing the door. I took my shoes off laying in the bed crying in my pillow.

I heard kentell and jazz talking in the hallway.

Kentrell. If she don't piss me off then she can go

I felt my self dozing off to sleep.
