Chapter - 24

Author's POV:

It's been twelve hours since Emily have been left to sleep permanently alone in her grave. After the rituals they performed in the cemetery, Daniel convinced Jenifer to go with him to his mansion. No matter how much everyone tried to convince Stacy, she was too stubborn and denied to go with them. She said, she needs sometime alone and disappeared from the cemetery. Everyone's knows how much stubborn and adamant she is. So, they decided to give her sometime and let her go. After that, Sean drove Alison, Daniel, Jenifer and Ezme to his mansion.

"Mom! You need to take some rest". Sean gently told his mother because Alison was crying like a hell since she heard about Emily. Just a day before, she welcomed Emily with all her heart into her family and now that poor girl is no more. Only her memories remains and that was too much for Alison to digest.

"I will, Sean!". Alison nodded her head at Sean and stepped near Jenifer as they reached the living room. "Honey, you too need to take rest. I know how much you are broken from inside but you must stay strong for Ezme. Through Ezme, we will always have Emily with us". She gently advised Jenifer with a teary eyes.

Jenifer nodded her head and looked at Ezme who is now sleeping in her hands. "I know, mom! I know that my Emily will always be with me!". She uttered in a broken voice. Alison smiled sadly and walked to her bedroom.

"Jen! Come, I'll show you the guest room". Sean took Ezme from her hands and marched towards the guest room. She followed him and Daniel stood there like a lost man and kept starring Jenifer from behind.

"Who did this to you, Emily? You were already broke and what that sick bastard thought he could steal away from you? How much pain did you gone through and the fuck he dared to shoot you? Emily, even if I find him and beat him to death, will everything get back to normal? Will you come back to us? Is it possible for us to see your beautiful smile and spectacular green eyes? Will your friends get to see you again. Shit, everything is screwed up Emily!". Daniel muttered to himself while looking at Jenifer's disappearing figure.

Sean took Jenifer to the guest room and gently placed Ezme on the bed. "Jen, I've ordered the maids to get something for you change and the clothes are placed in the closet. Take a shower and give me a call. I'll bring dinner for you. Okay, my little girl?". He informed her softly and she gave him a nod. When Sean left the room, she looked at Ezme's sleeping face and smiled. She slowly walked near the bed and sat beside Ezme.

"I am sorry, Ezme! I promised you that I'll always give you the best but today you lost the most precious person in your life. YOU LOST YOUR MOTHER!" She sobbed and kissed Ezme's cheeks. "I am happy that you are too small to understand all this because I don't want you to go through this pain am enduring. I may not be the best mother like Emily, but I will love you with all my heart. I love you, our little princess!". She cried and Ezme stirred in her sleep. Without wanting to disturb the baby's peaceful sleep, she decided to take a shower.

Stepping inside the bathroom, she slipped off from her dress and turned on the shower. Letting the cold water run through her body, she hoped it could wash away all the pain she is holding in her heart. She closed her eyes and her tears got mixed with the cold water. Now she knows that losing your best friend could be one of the most unbearable pain one could go through.

After a hour long shower, she wore a plain white t-shirt and a grey sweatpants. Forgetting that Sean asked her to give a call to him, she slipped into the sheets beside Ezme and hugged the tiny baby. She sniffed Ezme because the baby still had her mother's scent on her. This made her to lose herself again and she cried. "You smell like Emily!". She cooed into the baby's ears and cried silently. Even though all her cries were not audible, it still disturbed Ezme's sleep. The baby opened her eyes and started crying. Jenifer sat up immediately and took Ezme in her arms and tried to coo her. "I am sorry, baby. I won't cry!". She cooed her with tears still rolling down.
