The breath caught in (Y/n)'s throat as the carriage made its way through the large gate to the courtyard of the great Keep. Her heart beating at a rapid pace, as the horses were pulled to a halt. For a moment, she couldn't help but find herself a little ridiculous. During her years away. And despite all the foes that she had faced, she had never been as nervous as she was at this second. It wasn't to say that she had never been scared. The lady always keeping in the back of her mind something that Bronn had told her not long before she had run away. Something he had told her in secret when she had asked him if he had ever been scared in battle. The sellsword giving her a small, wry smile and replying in that rough and course tone of his. A tone that was as weathered as the rest of him always appeared, with "If anyone tells ya they ain't scared, they're either stupid, or a liar." And she was sure that that was one of the things that had kept her alive. But somehow, being scared in battle, was nothing compared to stepping foot outside of the carriage.

Suddenly, the door was opened. A hand reaching in and offering itself to her.

"Milady." A voice came. (Y/n) swallowing at the large lump in her throat, before placing her palm in the bigger hand. Her body, slowly, hesitantly allowing itself to be helped from the landeau.

                                                            >>-------------------------------<<

For a moment, the brightness of the day was blinding, as (Y/n) placed her feet on the all too familiar cobblestones. Her eyes slowly adjusting so that she could see Captain Lucas. So that she could see the old lion, patiently waiting for her. Quietly, she thanked the driver for helping her from the carriage before she slowly made her way over to Tywin. She had to admit that the years had changed him very little. He was still the handsome, gruff and grumpy looking lion that she remembered. (Y/n) often wondering if Jaime would age quite as well as his father had. If Tyrion would.

"My lord." (Y/n) said respectfully, as she finally stood before the Lannister patriarch and curtsied. The lady's eyes too focused on the floor to see the smile that was pulling at the corners of Tywin's lips. Her heart dropping to the pit of her stomach, as she heard him huff.

"So, my ward finally deems us worthy to once again bestow her presence on us..........?" Tywin began. His stern eyes focused on (Y/n) as she slowly rose.

"I..........yes........I mean........my lord............." (Y/n) spluttered out, as she managed to summon enough courage to look at the lion.

"Good." Tywin simply added, before stepping forward and placed his arms around his shocked ward. (Y/n) unable to do anything other than hold on to his heavy garb. The lady hoping that she would never feel the need to leave the old man again. That all this meant that Tywin had forgiven her.

"Take the lady (Y/n)'s bags to her old room." Tywin ordered the bannermen, as he moved away from his ward. The guards quickly doing as they were told, as Tywin took (Y/n)'s arm.

"And as for you, my child. You are coming with me. The roads are dirtier than usual at this time of year. I have a good bottle of wine, waiting to wash the dust from your throat. Then you can tell me where you have been." Tywin explained, as he led her into the darkness of the castle and up to the Tower of the Hand.

                                                       >>----------------------------------<<

Tywin sat quietly, as (Y/n) told him about all her adventures. As she told him where she had been over the last few years. As she told him about armies. About sellswords and warriors. About fighting a Dothraki and being able to claim his arakh. A weapon that she carried with great pride. His young ward occasionally moving her clothes to show him the scars she had received in her many fights.

"I'm sorry............." (Y/n) suddenly remarked. Tywin looking up from his glass at the comment.

"I know that I shouldn't have left as I did. I didn't do it out of disrespect for you. You have done so much for me. More than I could ever have asked for........"

"Then why did you leave, child.........."

"Because............because...........I wanted to make you proud......."

"Proud? Why would you want me to be proud of you?" Tywin asked, as he sat up a little in his chair. His eyes now firmly focused on the young woman across from him.

"I left, in part, because I wanted to prove that I was good enough to be my father's daughter. Even after all these years I still care about him. And the thought that he could see my endeavours made everything, all the struggles, the pain, worth it. But mostly, I wanted to prove that I was worthy enough to be your daughter. For even though we do not share the same blood, in truth, you have been the only father that I have ever really known. I wanted to show you that I was worthy of being a lion. That I was worthy of your love and pride." (Y/n) confessed. Her own gaze now set on the dark liquid that shimmered in glass in her hand.

Proud? She had wanted to make him proud. To prove that she was worthy to be his child. Father? The only father that she had ever really known. Tywin couldn't help but admit that almost since the first moment she had stood before him, he had thought of his ward as his child. Even though he had never approved of her rebellious streak. Her habit of questioning him, when his own children would never dare. Of fighting him at every turn. In a way, that was what made him like her all the more. He had long since believed that (Y/n) was the daughter that he really should have had. Seven Hells, in another world, she would have made the perfect son and heir. A son that he would be proud to claim. But as it was, all he could hope for was that his real son and heir, would see sense once he saw that (Y/n) had come home. That he would relinquish the oath and take (Y/n) as his bride.

"You have made me a prouder father than you will ever know, (Y/n). Unlike my own children, you have never brought shame to the Lannister name. You have never given me any reason to be disappointed with you, other than your running away. You are the child that I should have had. And you are as much, if not more of a lion than any of those that share my blood. You are my child. My daughter." Tywin declared. (Y/n)'s eyes flying up at his words. The ward quickly moving from her seat so that she could fall to her knees before the old lion. Her head resting on his lap.

"Thank you.........father........" (Y/n) replied softly. A tear rolling down her cheek, as Tywin carefully lay his hand on her head.

                                                            >>------------------------------<<

Tyrion and Jaime quickly made their way to their father's rooms. They had both heard the wheels of a carriage clatter, as it had entered the courtyard but had thought nothing of it. Yet, as the rumours of the identity of the person that had arrived in the carriage spread like wildfire through the Keep, the two younger lions knew, that if the gossip was true, the only place that she would be, was with the old man.

Jaime could feel his heart race. He had thought that he would never see her again. That she may have died in the big, dangerous world beyond the walls of the Red Keep. Yet now, it appeared that he was wrong, and she had come home. That the thoughts that he had been harbouring about turning his back on the Kingsguard oath. On his sister. Had been there because the gods knew that (Y/n) was coming back to him. Because they were giving him another chance to make her his, just like he always should have done.

"Father! Is it true......................" Jaime began, as he and Tyrion pushed their way into Tywin's room. The golden lion unable to say anymore, as he saw the beautiful woman whose head had just risen from his father's knee. As he saw that (Y/n) was really home again.
