"STEVEN!" I yell banging on the hall bathrooms' door.

"I'M IN THE SHOWER!" He yells back. "GO AWAY!"

"HURRY UP!" I bang one last time before walking downstairs.

It takes him about ten minutes to get downstairs.

"Finally," I groan.

"Finally? I was only on the shampoo phase of my shower! I went so fast!" He argue.

"Get in the car. We're going for a drive." I say.

"Wha- where?" He asks.

I look over at him and then continue out the door.

He follows me outside anyways and we get into Moms car.

"What do you want?" He asks.

"We need to talk." I say.

He furrows his eyebrows but proceeds to buckle.

I pull out of the driveway and drive down the roads that line the beach.

"Jeremiah and I are dating." I say quickly.

"No shit." He scoffs. "I told you not to."

"No, I mean like this WHOLE time, we haven't been dating. But now we are. I think?" I say.

"This whole time?" He asks.

"Okay, funny story..." I pause before rambling on about the whole mess we've had this summer.

"So then basically Belly and Conrad were like 'haha get pranked' and now we're dating for real." I finish.

Steven laughs, "That is-"

I just nod aggressively. That is insane.

"But here's the thing. What is a boyfriend?" I ask.

"Well when a boy and a girl love each other-" He begins with a grin.

"STEVEN! THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT!" I smack his arm.

"I've never dated anybody.. you know that." I admit.

"Yeah, because you're a nerd."

I smack him again. "Help me, what do I even do now? I can't bully him anymore."

"I mean, you can but-" I stop him,

"I CAN!?" I yell excitedly.

"But it's not recommended." He stresses.

"SWEET!" I'm tuning him out now.

"Y/n!" He pulls my attention back. "You can tease. Not bully. Capeesh?"

I squint my eyes, "How far can I go before crossing a line?"

"If you even have to ask yourself that question, it's crossing a line." He says with a blank expression.

I nod, "Okay, what about like day-to-day? What do I even do with a boyfriend?"

"Hang out?" He suggests.

"Just keep it company?" I double check.

"Yeah, keep him company. It's really not a hard concept Y/n, a boyfriend isn't an alien."

"This was so much easier when it was fake." I whine.

"Just act the same as you did then, nothing has to change."

"Yeah, but now I kiss him. When am I even supposed to do that?" I ask.

"LA LA LA LA LA-" He plugs his ears.

"Steven!" I rip his arm away from his ear.

"No talk of the k word." He says seriously.

"Fine." I sigh. "I need to talk with Shayla."

"BE MY GUEST." He looks about ready to jump out of the car.

"Will you text her for me?" I ask, handing him my phone.

"You do it." He shoves it back towards me.

"Steven, I'm driving." I say blankly.

He sighs and takes the phone, "What do you want me to say?"

"Ask if she can hang out today, say.. 2:00?"

I hear the typing of the keys since my ringers on. Steven is the world's slowest typer I swear.

"Done." He says, but doesn't hand my phone back. "Does Shayla talk about me?" He asks, scrolling back through our messages.

"STEVEN!" I go to take my phone back, but he pulls away.

"You make me sound terrible." He says, reading old messages.

"Don't kiss Steven tomorrow, you might get pink eye." He reads aloud. "IS THAT WHY SHE WOULDN'T KISS ME THE DAY AFTER 'FART FACE'? BECAUSE OF THAT, ARE YOU SERIOUS? THAT'S NOT EVEN HOW PEOPLE GET PINK EYE Y/N!"

I start cracking up and eventually get my phone back.

"Oh, she said 'see you then ;)', awesome!" I exclaim.
