I walk home alone, Jeremiah went back inside but I just need time to think.

Comforting him is what he needed.

But suppressing my tears in order to do so was so hard.

On the way home silent tears are falling.

Wait until you're home, wait until you're home, wait until you're home. I repeat in my head, hoping my tears stay silent.

Finally, I shut the front door behind me and run upstairs. I notice Steven's door is open and to my surprise, there he is.

"Stevie?" I slowly push the door.

He's sitting there with red eyes, he knows.

I go and sit with him on the bed.

We don't mess around this time, he pulls me in to the tightest hug and we both just sob.

We sob and sob and sob.

We will always be each other's safe space, and right now that's all we need.

Each other.

I hiccup into his shoulder because of how hard I'm crying.

He grabs the back of my head and pets my hair.

I squeeze him a little tighter.
