Y/n's pov

It was the early morning, around half an hour after the boys had woken up. Max and I still sat at the desk in silence, finishing our letters as the boys looked though the evidence.

"Uhh, okay to be honest... do you guys understand any of this?" Steve asked as he paced In front of the couch that Lucas and Dustin sat on.

"No." Lucas said.

"Pretty straightforward." Dustin said.

"Oh. Straightforward, really?" Steve asked sarcastically.

"What's confusing to you?" Dustin asked sincerely. "So far everyone Vecna has cursed has died except for this old Victor Creel dude Nancy found. He's the only known survivor, if anyone knows how to beat this curse, it's him."

"Yeah, that's assuming that he was cursed, Henderson, which we don't even know." Steve retaliated. "How can Vecna have existed back in the fifties, it doesn't make sense." He muttered to himself.

"As far as we know Eleven didn't create the upside down, she opened a gate to it. The upside down has probably been around for thousands of years, millions, I wouldn't be surprised if it predated the dinosaurs." Dustin said.

"Di- Dinosaurs? What are we-what-" Steve shut his theory down.

"Okay, okay, but if a gate didn't exist in the fifties, how did Vecna get through?" Lucas asked.

"Oh! And, how's he getting through now?" Steve added.

"And why now?" Lucas asked.

"And why then?" Steve asked. "Just pops out in the fifties kills one family, he's like 'pfft, yeah, I'm good.' And poof he just disappears just- gone? Only to return thirty years later and start killing some random teens? No, I don't buy it."

I heard his newspaper clipping crinkle slightly. "Straightforward my ass, you know what, honestly, Henderson, a little humility now and then? It wouldn't hurt you."

"Sorry." Dustin apologized.

Steve sat down noisily in a chair, and I finished my letter to Murray.

It went silent for a moment, before Dustin spoke up.

"Any idea what they're writing?" He asked Lucas, clearly talking about the two of us.

"Did either of them sleep?" Dustin's concerned voice spoke.

"I mean, would you?" Lucas made a great point.

"That's a great point, Lucas." I sealed my last envelope, leaving all my letters on the table and standing up to join Dustin, Steve and Lucas. "No, I did not."

I sat down next to Dustin, who gave me an upset smile, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

Then, much to my surprise, he gently grabbed me and sat me down in his lap, wrapping his arms around me and resting his chin on my head, breathing in deeply, longing to remember my exact scent.

"You smell good." Dustin smiled his cute smile at me, going back to his research.

The basement door opened loudly, and the click-clacking of heels gave Nancy away, Robin following behind her.

"Okay, so," Nancy started. "We have a plan."
