The shadows grew longer as the sun set behind the far eastern wall of the property. As the moon rose up behind the mansion five ghostly shadows ran across to the yard. They stopped behind a large wall made from perfectly groomed hedges.

One of the shadows plunged their hand deep into the ground. As he pulled it back up a trapdoor covered in grass lifted up with his hand. One by one, each shadow disappeared into the ground, yet one stayed out and closed the door from the outside. it then proceeded to side of the mansion, and began climbing the metal drainpipe.

--

I climbed steadily up the drain pipe. Its rickety groans doing nothing to ease my nerves. The fact that we were trying to break in, and rescue my team from the Creators would be considered as a death wish.

I had faith for once though. The plan was so simple that it just couldn't fail. I'd break in, and rescue Andrew while Esparonza, Maya, Genie, and Johnson rescued the rest of the team - that is if the intel was correct.

I froze underneath a window as a light turned on in the room behind it. Instead of climbing around I let my curiosity get the better of me. I peaked over the edge of the window. What I saw deeply disturbed me. Jason, the girl who helped him escape, Moonblade, D-15, Simeon, and a few Creators were all standing around a giant round table with a hologram of the compound. They were planning for a war, and appeared to have an ample amount of Metas at their disposal.

I retained what I could in the brief seconds I looked in, and then using a little of my powers, continued to climb around the window to the rooftop. I pulled myself up and over the edge's overhang. Only three yards away was the rooftop door; running over I opened it, and slipped inside.

Esparonza let down her mental guard for a brief moment, allowing her to sense everything around her. Maya felt the raw mental tidal wave as Esparonza's powers tore through her. She had felt this many times before, when they'd duel, every time they both disliked it. It made both of them to vulnerable for their liking. They only had one chance to find Angel's mental signature.

They turned down a long narrow corridor. It's walls were a dull grey with crimson strips every ten feet or so. The only light was from harshly bright LED bulbs in the ceiling.

Johnson was the first to pass the first cell; it was nightmarish. The entire cell was full of starving half dead Metas. They scurried back to the far end of the room in pure terror of him.

"We need to help them." Johnson pointedly whispered to Esparonza.

"Angle is the priority; not them." Esparonza continued forward. "If we have time, the we will on our way back."

Hello led into the cell. "I'm sorry to bother you, but would you happen to know where a Meta named Angle might be?"

They all nodded.

"Can you tell me where?"

"Shes at the end of this hallway. They're going to ice them tonight." A ebony colored girl said.

Johnson's face paled at that. Turning toward where the girl had indicated, he ran. Esparonza must've sensed the direness because she too, ran with him.

--

Andrew was lying down watching as a demonic doctor torturously cut him open. He was numb from head to toe. He wasn't surprised when a fountain of blood gushed out of the cavity in his chest.

He wasn't sure if this was real or not. So much torturous time in virtual reality had depleted him of any sense of reality. He supposed it didn't really matter either way in the end he would die for real.
